I'd steer clear of this shitfest. But it is, so I at least have to take a look. I haven't placed a bet yet but I am leaning towards the Giants -7. Yes they are a flawed team (transition on the O-line, unproven tigh ends, no one stepping up to take Steve Smith's place at WR, etc), have battled excessive injuries, and looked unispired in their loss to the Redskins. I believe there are some things in their favor here though.
Pass Rush - one of the few strengths that remain in tact for the Giants. They managed 4 sacks against the Redskins and that was without Justin Tuck who is probable for tonight's game. The Rams on the other hand allowed 5 sacks against the Eagles while recording 3 of their own.
Ground Game - I'm sure some will disagree here with the Giants managing all of 75 yards in week 1 but New York did not commit to the run game. If they don't again this week they will be in big trouble. St. Louis allowed 237 yards rushing against the Eagles. They also managed 154 of their own but I'm keeping in mind that the Falcons just ran for 138 on that same Philly D. The Giants defense held the Redskins to 74 yards on the ground last week.
Rams were 2-6 on the road last season although only two of those losses were by more than 7 points.
The Giants do not want to head in to Philly (the first of two road games) for week three with an 0-2 record.
I'll need to confirm Nicks and Tuck are playing for the Giants and that Jackson is officially out before I do anything. And I know it's only week 2 so most stats aren't exactly a great measuring stick but I'm thinking the Giants are the play.
