I really like the Steelers here. Your SF division future is looking really good as well I don't know why people are so down on them when they have such an elite D.
Only pick you have that I don't like is the Dolphins in a teaser. IMO you should just take 7 cause the Pats can easily blow out teams. Last year I teased the Seahawks to +14 against the Giants and they got killed. I think at 7 the Dolphins have a lot of value but 14 is unnecessary cause they could easily get blown out.
I think you'll bounce back nicely with this card after Thursday's play. Always love the write-ups buddy.

Well, I picked the Steelers to win the SuperBowl this year and this game will provide me with an opportunity to back them for the first time this season. I'll be honest, if this game @ Baltimore was not the first game of the season, I probably would have passed on it. But since it is, I feel this is worth a wager. I truly don't think that home-field advantage is as significant in the first game. Both teams are healthy, both are ready to start their seasons with a win, and both will be looking to kick the crap out of one another. Since you can pretty much throw all the motivational and emotional angles out for this one, it's safe to say that the best team should win this one. Well, I feel that Pittsburgh is the better team. Steelers are a better defensive team than Baltimore, and have all their starters returning on that side of the ball. Ravens have some changes, the most significant being in their secondary, where they have a number of new starters. At the same time I feel that Pittsburgh's offense is better as well. With Mendenhall getting over 400 touches last season during the SuperBowl run, I expect this PIT offense to utilize the pass much more in 2011. Roethlisberger is in his prime and he has a number of solid receivers at his disposal: Wallace, Ward, Brown, Sanders, and even Heath Miller, who will spend more time blocking than running routes though. Again, all these offensive weapons are back from last season and the cohesiveness of the group can't be over-stated here. Baltimore on the other hand, has parted ways with Mason and Heap, and brought in Lee Evans and Ed Dickson will take over at TE after having 13 catches in his rookie season. There's a reason why Buffalo gave away Evans for scraps! In any case, I don't see this Ravens passing offense being 'sharp' to start the season as they'll need some time to 'gel'. Finally, I want to point out that Steelers are 7-0 against Baltimore in Roethlisberger's last 7 starts against them. The guy just knows how to win against this team. I see a hard fought battle here, but Pittsburgh's aerial attack will be too much for the Ravens in the end.
hey bodio my man love your steeler write up.. bud this has been my team since ive been in diapers.... i watch every game year in and year out... i know this team all the way from there water boy to mr rooney!!!! sundays game against ravens will be the best game of the week.. when these 2 teams play they come out to kill each other.. they lay every thing out on the line.. the old days r over with browns being the rivarly...these games r the hardest hitting games i have ever seen in football.. especially when hines ward and ed reed go at it... love these 2 games every year... i agree with every thing you said beside the ravens having not gonna get there passing down... i got to disagree with that... man our secondary is week buddy...ya sure troy is back there but man do they struggle... ive been screaming at the tv at draft time for them to get a few 1st rounders that r corners to build up our secondary but no!!! i was wanting kyle wilson a few yrs back instead of pouncey but no!!! this is the only weakness of the steelers...there r a few coaches and teams that notice our weakness every time they play us and thats bill bellechek and jeff fisher...all they do is throw throw throw and they r always succesfull.. i am shocked that more teams dont throw it out on us cuz we just r horrible... only thing that saves us at time is the blitz packages that lebeau brings for the qbs dont get a chance at shots down the field.. i love your pick and i will be on it aswell. im just a little hesitant of antwoin boldin this year..flacco and him have another year under there belt together and last year he was succesfull against us.... he is big and strong and c ike having issues covering him... gl my man... hope all goes well..

Thanks Bake! great to hear from you. How have you been? Hope baseball's been going good for you this season!
Agree with you on San Fran..way UNDER-valued this year. I think (hope) this team changes some minds after this Sunday.
I teased Miami cause I don't see Houston NOT winning their game against INdy. I would play Miami +7 as well as I think they're way under-rated. I understand what you're saying about getting blown out, but a 10 or a 13 point win is considered a blow out as well, and at least I have those 2 covered with this teaser :)

Yeah, the secondary is the 'weakest' point of the D but they're not that bad. They've been together for awhile and that gives them an advantage. Also Polamalu healthy is HUGE. Ravens O-line tends to give up sacks and we'll see if they've improved in the off-season in this game. Besides, if PIT secondary is the weak link, Ravens' secondary is even weaker. They're starting a number of 'new' starters there and I think Pittsburgh's aerial attach should be able to exploit that. With Wallace and Brown flying up and down the field, and Ward working the underneath stuff, it might be a long day for this Ravens D. We shall see. GL this weekend bud and thanks for your thoughts

I'm not a Kolb fan at all. No idea why Zona over-paid for him but i guess as long as he can chuck the ball to Fitz it doesn't matter how good of a QB he actually is. Besides Fitz, 'Zona doesn't really have much in the receiving game. Beanie Wells is not a good receiver out of the backfield and Zona has THE worst (yes, even worse than my bears) O-line in the league. There's a reason this line moved from -7 to -6.5 as the 'value' is definitely on Carolina here. I have 'Zona -4 in this one by the way, but I'm not backing the Panthers with a rookie qB on the road so this one is an easy pass

Whoever that guy is, I love his picks...Raiders +3 will most likely be my Monday Night play this week...No idea why everyone is 'jumping' on Denver in that one. Raiders will pound the shit out of Denver with their running game and I see their DLine dominating the line of scrimmage as well.
I'm on the same page with that gentleman's analysis in the link you provided.

Going to a local festival here in Chicago... Superior & Oakley in Ukrainian Village, one block south of Chicago Avenue -- anyone in the area should come out.

And i'll b the first 2 tell ya that im not a big fan of trends, but, does it not bother u at all about that nasty trend of the team that loses in the super bowl the previous year not covering in the first week of the next season? Im sure u have heard about it a million times but its kinda sick how accurate its been over the past 10 years or so for whatever reason. Im too lazy 2 look it up but i know its been money. Just sayin. Anyways, best of luck 2 ya and hope 2 hear from ya often

I dont see the Steelers winning in any way shape or form in Baltimore. Flaco is now a seasoned veteran quarterback with a very fine arsenal of weapons. Rice also has Vonta Leach as a lead blocker who made a star out of Arian Foster last year in Houston. Baltimore has climbed the mountain. Watch for the Ravens to win and cover.

I see that you have Houston in two teasers. I hope they cover for you. With all due respect, I learned a long time ago to not do that. After all, if they don't cover, you lose both of those.
I hope Pit covers for you too
Looking forward to tomorrow in a huge way
Good luck sir
Here's to you and everyone else cleaning out the books this year
