There's no way to sugarcoat it, this fall has been a massive disappointment for me. Just can't seem to get it going. Had a great start in NFL but it's been 5 weeks of misery ever since. Haven't caught many breaks either to be fair. But I'm gonna keep capping the games the way I do and hope she works out in the end. Unlike most of Covers' "respected" cappers I will continue to keep an honest record and not a "selective one" like may around here who create threads do to boost their image. If I suck all you'll see it. Whaaaaaa whaaaaaa whaaaaaaa.
Detroit +7
The Patriots are not good enough to lay 7 points on the road. Their defense is tragically bad and those types of teams don't often win road games and winning by over 7 points is rare. The Pats have won 2 of their 5 road games by over 7 points but both came when they were dogs and one was due to about 50 special teams TD's and the other was in an outstanding spot for them where they played their guts out. This game is not one of those spots. Off two big wins over Pittsburgh and Indy and with a colossal home game on MNF against the Jets next week this actually looks like a pretty bad spot especially on a short week. A good counter argument to this would be that the Pats took Cleveland lightly in a similar spot 3 weeks ago and got blown out so now maybe they will not overlook the Lions. It's a fair point but IMO it's just too tough of a spot to be focused to a level that is needed to win by this margin.
This is a nice spot for the Lions too. We all know they've been epic disasters on Thanksgiving lately and sooner or later they will put together a good game on Turkey day. I'm not saying they're due but this Lions team is different. They battle every game, don't lay down, and aren't afraid of anybody...........these guys have heart! That's something past Lions teams did not have. They did get blown out last week on the scoreboard but they competed all game and some really tough breaks gave Dallas 14 points.
I have a feeling a lot more people will be on the Lions than the percentages show but I believe they are the right side.
GL. Happy Turkey Day.
