Jim Mora drafted Manning. A few other keys were there when Dungy arrived.

Tony D. is an excellent coach that knows what to do with the talent he has. He is a GREAT manager of his players. He knows how to get the best from his guys and I would love to see him on Sunday again somewhere.

Tony retired 139-69-0 in the regular season. That's a .668 win percentage. Which, is 11th all time and puts him ahead of such notable greats as: Joe Gibbs, Bill Belichick, Bill Parcells, and (obviously) many others. In 13 seasons his team finished first in their division 6 times. He was the first NFL coach to defeat all 32 teams.

His win percentage with Tampa was .556 and .759 with Indy. So, the talent on Indy certainly helped him, as it would any coach, but we can hardly say he was "along for the ride".

He's a winner, a class act, and if anything, UNDER RATED.

may i say you gotta credit him for somthing positive, he built that tampa team, with his cover two scheme, and if they had a top end qb,theh mighta beat the rams or philly! glazers were not patient, got antsy and gruden got a ring, still give credit where its due! now his got arguably one of the greatest at the qb pos. a great gm. an owner, bringing in great young talent..and a offensive staff and HC thats gonna put scores on the board, and make that cover two pass rush even fiercer than ever, on top of jim,c. blitz packages now! it was just the perfect culmination of all pieces!!

I don't know if it matters or not. But, if it's not his performance or character then what about him is being "over rated"?

I guess Peyton is coaching the defense and responsible for player management. He's the KOBE BRYANT (Mr No Hand Check) of the NFL. He MUST succeed at 'all costs'....including changing rules for him. It is a business. No one is as great as they seem. Dungy and Manning included

Yeah, you said all that before. And despite substantial evidence to the contrary, you're saying it again. That's what I would consider a circular argument and a waste of time.

People give him credit because he's a winning coach. He has one of the highest regular season win percentages of all time and he seems to have turned bad teams around to get it.

Tampa's win percentage before Dungy: 26.7%
With Dungy: 54.9%
After: 35%

Indy's win percentage before Dungy (10 years): 36%
Before Dungy (5 years): 43.7%
With Dungy: 75.9%

Manning is great, sure. But, saying the teams success is "all Manning" is foolish and even worse, it's just not good football.

Phil Simms  said it best good players become great players because of coaches. Good coaches know how to get the best out of players.  Manning  would be the first one to  tell you that.

Phil jackson is not overrated. 10 titles i mean come one. Yes i realize the players but he installed a great offense in chicago and the role players to mesh well bother in chitown and la. Everybody has at least a few great players when they win titles. Nobody is taking the nj nets or stl rams to a title this year

 Jersey shore NJ DEVIL  says
Funny how everyone he feels the need to help is black. Maybe
Dungy is a racist?
Apple says

SHHHHH  Ur not aloud to say things like that on here.... White people on this website will get offended by that statement more than the blacks

More than the blacks? You are so racist from every bone in your body ,that you don't even think that satement is wrong to say.. This has nothing to do ith Dungy.

If you were not looking for attention, you would not be responding to every thread about it for 4 days now.
