First, Indy lays down for them and next week, Cinci has nothing to play for at NY. What looked like two tough games to end the season, turned out to be a blessing as those two good teams ended up having nothing to play for. Cinci will probably sit Palmer and many others. Another Exhibition Game.
It would have been tougher for the Jets if they had the Browns or Panthers or even Tamp Bay! Not to mention if they had games left with other Wild Card contenders.
But I don't think the NFL can do anything about this late season laying down and resting players. How could you enforce it?

the Jets make it in only to lose in new england the following weekend. Players get a nice game check for the wild card game, loser get about 25k . Cant see San-wet back beat Tommy Cool.

This most likely does not matter since it's for the 3rd and 4th seeds in the AFC..........
BUT, If the Pats win next week in the early game they automatically get the 3rd seed.
If the Texans beat the Patriots..... Then a Bengals win in the late game would give them the 3rd seed.
If the Pats win, Bengals probably sit everyone and would most likely lose to the Jets which would set up a rematch of Jets AT Cincy in the wildcard game. The Jets would be all out trying to win and make the playoffs while the Bengals would use back ups and could use this game film to study the Jets which they would face again the next week. Interesting?
If the Pats Lose and Bengals Win, The Pats and Bengals wildcard matchups are still in the air depending on a multitude of results.

The Bengals will definitely lay down because then they get to play the Jets in the opening round. No offense to the Jets but they're clearly the worst of the playoff teams. Looks like NE gets Baltimore.

If the Pats and Bengals both lose, Then with a Ravens win over Oakland the Ravens are in and face New England while the Jets Go to Cincy in the wildcard. The Broncos would be eliminated by a Ravens win and the Jets win no matter what Denver does in thier last game.
This is the most likely AFC scenario. Book It Dano

Interesting yet?
If Cincy loses they will play the Jets for sure. If Cincy wins then NE will slide to 4 and get Baltimore at 5 (so NE is pretty much playing Balt no matter what) and then Cincy would get Pittsburgh or maybe Denver. Cincy would be idiots to try and win. They couldn't dream up a better playoff opponent than the imposter Jets.

Get ready for the Pats, they're about to get on a roll...they looked as good today as any team in the league. Remember, just a month ago they slapped the Colts around like little biatches for 57 until they got brain-cramped with under 3 minutes to go.
I don't care which Wildcard team comes into Foxboro, they're gonna get spanked.

For the Fact that Jacksonville has one of the worst passing defenses in the leagueNot to mention they are one dimensional with MJD...its amazing the stats he puts up week to week by himself...And last point Garrard is the Worst QB on the road PERIOD...

Jacksonville had everything on the line today and couldn't match the Pats' intensity. Jacksonville is known as a tough, bruising team but they got pushed around today fighting for their playoff lives! Brady, perfect QB rating, defense - flying around the ball and making big plays left and right. Running game, 5+ per carry.

Jets -8 over Cinci. I guess that tells you Cinci will just give it away. Can't blame them. Why win and face the Steelers or Ravens or Texans when you can play the Jets?
Jets D could pull the upset with some turnovers, but better to face Mark Sanchez than two-time SB Champ Big Ben. No brainer. Even if the Jets self-destruct, Cinci may let them score at some point.
