According to the twitter
page of Patriots' beat writer Mike Reiss, the team is trading Richard
Seymour to the Oakland Raiders. New England will receiver a first-round
pick in 2011 in return.
Our View:
This one came out of nowhere. Seymour has been a staple of the Pats'
defense for a long time, but a future first-round pick is a pretty
solid return for the veteran. It seems like the Pats don't ever miss
when it comes to roster moves, so they must know what they are doing.
Although I've been a fan of Seymour for many years, you have to admit that getting a #1 draft pick from da Raiders surely is enticing...Should be top 5 at worse.

Its not a good move at all for the Patriots. Their defense was shaky at best, and now they trade away their best player on that defense? The draft pick will help them next year obviously and it will give them money to resign Wilfork, but a big reason why Wilfork was so good was having Seymour on the line next to him. The Raiders will have a damn good defense once again, but for the Patriots, it's a damn good thing that they can win most shootouts...Im taking the over in every game now for them

not a good move by the pats? r u playing with yourself? the #1 draft choice of the worst run football org. in the business, for a washed up non playing goof. i would think that the owner of new england is making the business transactions for oakland.

Raiders a nice place to end your career. Warren Sapp did the same thing and Jerry Rice's last productive years were spent in Oakland. A place where expectations are low. You're not expected to win so you can coast your last few years in The NFL and collect your checks.

totally agree for the first two games then the lines will be more correct.

Will someone put Al Davis out to pasture please? Shit, he already handed them Moss for nothing, why not give them JeMarcus for the Pats waterboy too while they're at it

Seymour , although still a force on D, is not the dominant player he was in 2001-2004. He will be missed, but as the Pats have shown in the past, someone will step up and fill the role.. J. Green has proven to be an adequate replacement for Seymour when he was injured. They obv are also high on draft picks Ron Brace and Myron Pryor.
This move also frees up $$$ to sign up Wilfork, and down the road Brady will be up for a contract.Without this move,Seymour plays this season and is gone in FA in the offseason with nothing in return..
NE will have probably a top 5 or 10 pick in 2011 along with their own pick.
Other teams are playing checkers while BB plays chess.

top five or ten pick r u kidding, the trade states the raiders #1 pick that will be the first overall pick of thr nfl draft. but then again look at what the raiders choose with the first overall pick , some stiff who cannot grasp nor cares to grasp thier playbook.

OMG, no wonder some teams continue to win and others don't.
Why would any team trade a no.1 pick for a past his prime player unless he might be the 1 missing piece to a SB run, the Raiders need young players to build for the future not a player to try and win this year.
Think about this, Seymour becomes a free agent at the end of this season, what happens if he signs with the Patroits ???

The biggest thing I have a beef with is the timing of the trade. Why wait until the week before the season
maybe because the preseason was an audition to see if he could be replaced properly and they determined he could so then pulled the trigger on the trade dont question this organizations moves
