Ok. I know he was carrying a gun in a night club illegally, but the dumb fuck shot himself in the leg. I would think that is partial punishment for being stupid, but Idk, just seems silly that he got 2 years for it. I hate to bring up the Stallworth incident, but he killed someone while driving under the influence and spent 30 days? Does this all seem weird to anyone else?

Its all just silly.

he's just a victim.

the state and federal government is just proving wrong all the people that think that celebs and athletes get off easy. If this was your average joe shmoe, you'd be lucky to hear about it on your local nightly news broadcast and I highly doubt it would lead to a prison sentence.

horrible way to possibly end a great athletes career.

our legal system is a joke.

do something better with your time and our money, government officials, like i dont know?

fix the gang problems in south side chicago among many other gang and drug related issues throughout america.

I am glad that plax and his attorney were smart enough to plead guilty.. no point in wasting a year to wind up getting the same or maybe worse punishment

total bullshit if plax had accidentally shot someone else in the leg instead of himself he probably could have paid them off and gotten less time

Ridiculous sentence.........why not fine the shit out of  the guy and let him return to being a taxpayer.......instead of locking him up and becoming a burden on the rest of the taxpayers in NY. Our legal system is so fucked up it's incredible.

its unreal that accidentally shooting yourself in the leg is punishable by the same time as the crime of funding and running an illegal dog fighting/gambling ring in which many dogs are brutally killed

Well since im from Canada I cant really comment on the laws there. I think the guns there are to lax IMO. I live on the border of the US and thats all I hear on the news over there... man shot, child shot, man captured and shot, woman raped and shot, woman killed and chopped up into pieces etc etc.. its just ridiculous. Well maybe its just because its Detroit But with that said I didnt want to see him get that much

My brother has quite a few "Friends" that are in and out of Jail all of the time for shit WAY worse than this.

I'm borderline furious... i knew it was going to happen but still its kind of retarded in a way. Yes what he did was illegal but the likes of Sean Taylor and Steve McNair should give him some benefit of the doubt to be able to protect himself.

Athletes are in constant danger IMO and Plax had no intention of harming anyone. Just a case of bad luck since he was in NY

I called this happening the day of his grand jury testimony in another thread. After admitting what he did either the grand jury would not indict him or if they did he admitted guilt at the hearing. A guilty plea was his only play, or he could get the 3.5 years.

Bye-Bye dickhead. This couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Everyone get off the "self-defense" kick. Plax just wanted to act like a badass gang banger. Know he can get acquainted with who he wish to be.

I think a heavy fine would have been adequate in this situation.  Maybe a short jail stint of 30 days or so would have been OK.  His celebrity status worked against him.

 People are crying that hes a celebrity so he got a steep sentence. Well a couple years ago people were shouting that they don't get punished enough because they are celebrities
