#4 Posted: 5/7/2009 12:15:49 PM And this was all over the news yesterday and the day before. I'm so sick of hearing Brett Favre this Brett Favre that. A HOF player who is doing nothing but tarnishing his legacy by refusing to leave the game. If I was Minnesota I would rather let Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson battle it out. Rosenfels>Favre with a bum shoulder at this stage in his career. A lot cheaper as well.

#7 Posted: 5/8/2009 3:00:37 AM Rumor is Favre is staying retired... Honestly he would help that team so much. Everyone doesn't like that he keeps retiring and coming back. Sports need more players like Favre. The love for the game, the heart and determination all makes him a guy that I would want on my team. Last year he proved that when healthy he's still one of the best. He was playing with a torn bicep. If Favre does go to the Vikings which probably isn't happening anytime soon... the Vikings will be the team to beat in the NFC. |

not sure if he still has the love for the game or just some personal vendetta against Greenbay. It seems like he's more of a distraction now than before for any team.

#15 Posted: 5/12/2009 5:26:24 PM He has always been a favorite of mine but he has learned to love "drama" too much. He should have taken that 20 million from Green Bay (anyone else with any sense would have done it) but without the drama he refused. Maybe he likes the road trips and is getting the "seven year itch" even though his wife seems to follow him around a lot.

#17 Posted: 5/18/2009 7:05:41 PM Latest story is that he has gone to another surgeon to see if his arm might heal without surgery. Does that sound like he wants to retire?

You have no fuckin clue what you are talking about. That GM got rid of Favre at the perfect time. And we already have the next franchise quarterback in place. He also got rid of Ahman Green at the perfect time. And he's made a ton of other great moves and draft picks.
The Packers are in great shape right now to be a major player in the NFL in the next few years. One of the youngest teams in the league if not the youngest.
Alot of people are going to owe Ted Thompson an apology. I absolutely love Ted Thompson and the way he runs the Packers. He doesn't get sentimental about players. If you're washed up and you can't do it anymore he gets rid of you and replaces you with a young player. That's the way you have to be as a General Manager if you are going to keep your job.
Like right now, he's cutting loose one of the most beloved players on the Packers the last 10 years or so, right tackle Mark Tauscher. It has to be done. Tauscher has had two surgeries on one of his knees and he was getting beat alot last year. The fans are on Thompson for it but it's the right thing to do.
I can almost guarantee you that the Packers will be one of the best teams in the league again within the next 3 years.
Guarantee. If you really have studied and understood what Thompson has done, you wouldn't be calling him a moron. |

How did Thompson get rid of Favre at the "perfect time?" He took the Packers to the NFC Championship in 2007? What was the Packers record last year? Favre brings intangibles that very few QBs bring to the table too. One of the best "leaders" at the helm all-time IMO. |

Did the Jets make the playoffs last year? Did Favre play like crap the last 5 games? Does Favre have a busted arm? Was Aaron Rodgers a far better quarterback than Favre last year? Is Aaron Rodgers 40 yrs old? Is Aaron Rodgers a prima donna who wants to be the general manager of the team? Did Aaron Rodgers make 13 million bucks last year?
You know the answers.
Not only that but we got a 3rd round pick from the Jets that we used to move up and draft Clay Matthews in the first round. If he turns out to be a stud linebacker that is going to be a tremendous move. We've got a better quarterback than Favre now. He's young, he's got a year of experience and he's got a very bright future if he keeps working at it.
Nice job Ted Thompson. |
