Does he have some kind of deal with peoli? Cassel and vrabel for just a 2nd round pick. Sorry but the pats got screwed there. I saw somebody saying belicheck was a genius earlier on some potential deals. Sounds fishy here

Friends helping each other out, kinda like Kevin McHale giving away Kevin Garnett to Boston and his old teammate Danny Ainge. Like the Lakers getting Pau Gasol from Memphis and Jerry West to West old team the Lakers. Maybe somewhere down the line Peoli will return the favor to Belichick and the Partriots.

I wouldnt count on returning the favor, but I do think the Pats got the shortend of the stick, but, I do understand that the Pats may not have had cap room for the 3rd pick. I just wonder why they didn't get an additional 2nd rounder in 2010 or something of that nature.

I don&#x27;t think that was a bad deal at all financially speaking.  Cassel 14 million, Vrabel was going to be a cap casualty any how.  They don&#x27;t want that 3rd overall pick to dish out that kind of money.  Second pick of the second round, the guy should start for your team.  They are targeting someone with a lot of value at that spot.  Someone they won&#x27;t have to pay a bunch of money for an upgrade they need.  They have 3 total picks in the second round, and obviously one in the first.  They just know how to do things, NE is a smart franchise.  I&#x27;d rather have 3 second round picks than the 3rd pick in the draft.

osirus, i think it was a very good deal for the patriots..if they didn&#x27;t franchise him they would have lost him to free agency so they put the tag on him with the intentions of trading him and dumping vrabel&#x27;s salary also..they got a second round pick for a back up qb and an aging linebacker,i wish they would have let bruschi go also..the pick is basically the same as a late 1st round pick and they now have 5 picks in the 1st 3 rounds...this move freed up salary cap room for us to sign Taylor and Springs who are vets that will fit in perfectly with our systems...this move and the other trades in recent years will allow us to get younger through the draft without sacrificing winning seasons like most teams do when they get younger..you can question Belichicks personality but when it comes to coaching and making the right moves he is by far the best in the business

yea, seems like they could have gotten more value there, but cant argue with the pats organization. they wheel n deal better than most if not all.

I said nothing about belichecks personality although i dont like it. I know they always make good moves but they still could have gotten more and it was wierd that of all teams it went to peoli and the chiefs. So i dont buy alot of it

Julius PeppersCarucci also reports that NFL sources told him the Panthers are&#xD;&#xA;happy to get a second-round pick for Peppers, in part because it is&#xD;&#xA;less expensive than signing a first-rounder. &#xD;&#xA;&#xD;&#xA;That is telling in this sense: If the Patriots&#x27; interest in Peppers&#xD;&#xA;was serious before they traded Matt Cassel to the Chiefs for the 34th&#xD;&#xA;pick in this year&#x27;s draft, it could go a long way toward explaining why&#xD;&#xA;they didn&#x27;t hold out for a first-rounder in exchange for the&#xD;&#xA;quarterback. He has know idea what he&#x27;s doing.
