Before last week, I heard a stat on the radio. In the last 66 championship games (NFC Championship, AFC Championship, and Superbowl) the outright winner has also covered the spread 63 times. The other 3 were pushes. That's 63-0-3.
I don't know if my number are correct, but I recall the wins being in the low sixties and I'm positive they said 0 losses. Both straight up winners last week also covered the spread.
Take it for what you will, but I thought that it'd be an interesting stat for people to ponder.

Teddy S on the covers radio show just said, that only 5 times in the 42 SB has the team that won the SB not covered. He did say there were tie's, so, i remember the tie, STL and GB, then we just said NE twice didn't cover, but I do not know the last one. Funny too, cause I have seen a couple of people say Pitt will win but not cover.

I think the stat was AFC/NFC Championships where the spread was less than 10, the points didn't matter. So the Pats AFC game above wouldn't fit the parameters if the spread was 14.

That's it! Thanks man...I KNEW I wasn't going crazy. Yes...it's only involving single-digit spread.
