Why didnt Fisher call timeout after 1st down???

He let the clock run....&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Then called timeout on 2nd and 3rd....&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;He could have saved his team 40 secs.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;No reason not to call it there.

did anyone else think flacco might have stepped out of the end zone earlier in the quarter when they were backed up on 3rd down.. nothing was ever said or replayed but i could have sworn i thought he might have..&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;but van you are right, i thought it was a badly coached game overall..

[/Quote]40 seconds is not a lot of time if you can&#x27;t get the ball out of bounds. Still need to get the field goal unit on the field. So many things can wrong so fast, better to have a timeout than not in my opinion. I&#x27;m sure Fisher felt the same way.

Van - I agree with you most of the time, and I appreciate your threads.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;I am not saying that he was right, but he was probably thinking that if he calls timeout and then they pick up a first down on 2nd, then he&#x27;s worse off than waiting one more play.   &#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;I&#x27;m not sure that came out right, but basically, he wanted to see if there would be a 3rd down play before committing one of his TO&#x27;s.  &#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;In any event, it is indefensible to end the game on offense with a timeout in your pocket.

Van,&#xD;&#xA; He was saving it to use at the red lobster all you can eat buffet.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;It really does make you wonder how these clowns get paid what they get paid.   That was a no brainer, you have to save those 40 tics.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Game ended with his timeout unused.
