News - Lyoto Machida was expected to fight Ryan Bader - Lyoto Machida sounds
open to, but sort of less than thrilled abut the idea of fighting Tito Ortiz for
a second time, after Ortiz finally got out of the losers bracket earlier this
month at UFC
132 Results. Machida told a Portuguese language website this week that he
would fight Ortiz again, but only if it propelled him closer to a chance to
regain his light heavyweight title. As you'll see, "The Dragon" also tips his
hand a bit here that -- like nearly everyone else in the world -- matchmakers
were sort of banking on Ryan Bader trumping Ortiz.
"They wanted to put me with Ryan Bader but he lost to Tito Ortiz last
weekend so, so far I have no opponent ..." Machida said. "If (a rematch with
Ortiz) is a really interesting thing, it can happen. Not 'financially
interesting' but interesting in the sense of, if it would move me forward,
closer to the title. Then I would surely take that fight."
Huh. Don't know about that. From where I'm sitting Machida vs. Ortiz is
interesting in just about every way except possible title implications, of which
there are none unless both guys pick up a win or two in the meantime. Check out
the latest UFC
Picks and UFC
Odds for upcoming fight's.
