shit on this topic..me and my bookie are relatively long time freind's and usually when i'm down he would call me right away (on wednesdays) let me know i need to pay up, i'd tell him wait til saturday, and he was cool with it. in May i was up almost 2dimes but lost all but 800-900 coming into june.. so i was wondering where he was at cause he aint call for my $ in two weeks.. but i recently hit a parlay and now up another 2dimes - hope he don't try to pull nuthin' slick. Anyone have similar experiences?

If I knew where to find a bookie I would use a bookie. Instead I'm stuck sneaking deposits, or praying for the check to actually come when they say it will.

Some of the most respected books have problems paying people at one time or another.

You need to find a bookie that you meet in person man-to-man before you ever place a bet. A lot of bookies are referred to friends and family which is fine but you need to meet him first and ask questions. My bookie is the best bookie I have ever dealt with. The most professional bookie. But I am an old timer and I have seen poor bookies in the past. Most of the bad ones are young and inexperienced.

Agreed "retire early". I am blessed to have the bookie that I have, but it wasn't always like this. I used to deal with a small time book and for the first 2 months I lost between 250 and 500 a week. Being small time he made sure to stress prompt call and collect situations. I was out of town 1 week and was 4 days late, I kept him informed. When I got home we talked about treating each other fairly and paying on time, I apologized and we moved on. Ironicly the next week I won 560, he said his partner told him not to pay me on time bc I did that to him, so I waited 5 days and he paid ( somewhat reluctantly I noticed).

2 weeks later I won 714, did'nt hear from him, so I called, no answer. He finally texted me and said he had gotten hit hard that week and offered me a scooter and a kayak. I waited 3days and he paid me. He went under the next day.

Bet with for over a year with him. I always paid him and before this and he always paid me. He owes one other person i know and he is not getting paid. He wants me to wait till sept to get paid? Never had this happen. Not much you can do! As far as i know he is not taking bets.

I wouldn&#x27;t say the bad ones are young and inexperienced.  I&#x27;ll say they&#x27;re just a bunch of wannabes trying to scam people.  I don&#x27;t believe in using offshore, I hate waiting for a paycheck.  I post up with my local bookie that was referred to me years ago by my uncle.  I know many of his clients, even know where my bookie lives.  I get the money right away whenever I ask to cash out.  No questions asked.  Always deal with someone that I know where they live and I can drive to their house anytime.

Here are the reasons why I do not like using bookies.......

1) They are not available 24/7. When you have an offshore account, you can access your account using the internet. Which is great when it's late or you can't really make a call. Bookies have a tendency to miss calls or sleep I guess lol

2) Bookies charge you juice on your losses. If it's not bad enough that you lost, then you take on some extra fee. It's crap.

3) Bookies don't always offer parlays, teasers, and IF Bets.

4) Bookies let you bet with money that isn't yours. This gets people into way too much trouble. Online you have to deposit your money first, then you can play. Saves a lot of knees from being broken.

5) I'd rather not deal with a guy who can get popped. He goes down, and I'm sure something will happen with me. Even if it doesn't, I'm now stuck trying to find a new bookie. Not the easiest thing to do, is it?

There are many more. To me, bookies are worthless.

1.  My bookie gives me a 24/7 online account to wager at.  No problem there.  I can also call in my bets if I&#x27;m driving.2.  Offshore charges you even more juice.  What are you smoking?  Offshore are usually 10% juice on whole game spread odds.  My bookie charges 5% juice or less.3.  My bookie offers parlay, teasers, if bets, round robin, etc.4.  I post up with my local bookie.  No problem with that one.5.  My guy isn&#x27;t the only person in his establishment.  He runs it like a local company. And you must be affiliated with offshore sites.  Have fun waiting for that paycheck coming to your house that you have to pay a fee.  I&#x27;m happy with depositing and withdrawing cash.  =)

Theres nothing wrong with using a bookie.  Online is a big hassle.  If he doesnt pay its probaly cause he got crushed same can happen to the online books.

Just moved back to South Carolina and looking for a local bookie. I have a couple of clients that bet through me @ wagerweb.com. I sometimes need to lay some money off on games.. I have always loved a good local bookie to bet through than betting online. If anybody could recommend a good local bookie that accept bets between $250-$2000 a game. I live in Greenville,SC and can drive anywhere within 2 hours to meet up. Thanks
