Why would Manly tank against the Titans to win wagers when they could MUCH MORE EASILY bet on themselves and blow them the shit out the park instead?

That's like saying the Wallabies have bet on America and will not show up tonight versus the -40 spread.  Joking for sure.  Why not bet on yourself and blow the U.S. out by 80?  Much less suspicion and you'll feel much better about yourself (and so will the league ladder!)

don't want to sound like the only one who watched the game, but Titans looked like they were going to win or at least cover in the 2nd HF.   Titans had the momentum and they just played stupid..  For example, up 14-12 Davis drops the ball a few meters away from the line, Bowen trips over his feet and gives Manly an easy try.  Titans again meters away, but Davis forces it to the left when nothing was there, ball lost.  Bowen and some other guy can't tackle for shit and Manly run it all the way from their own try line.  Manly run another long one back near their own goal line and game is over.

It's a lot easier to take a dive than play hard.

Of course it is easier to tank it.  But if you can cover just as easily as well, why do so?

I think if Manly were to tank a game, it would be in a game that they were expected to lose or at Evens with.

I see it all the time, once they get beat up on and the cause is lost. Or those times when everyone is surprised when team A fails to show up to an inferior team B.

key players control the entire game and the games outcome. why is it that when a key player is missing the team loses? these players are in the constant spot light by all the media and critics, surely these players would stand out like dogs balls if they threw off at game time, i believe certain opther players would make no difference to the games outcome if they were trying to tank it apart from maybe a few stupid penalties at key times in key positions and dropped balls etc. these all result in pressure on the team and possibly points but if the rest of the team is trying to win a single player cannot stop them, make it difficult for the team to win - yes, but not stop them winning -  no.
 
the idea of groups of players involved  no way.

if they were to tank a game that they were expected to lose cos they had money on it ? whats the point, the odds would be crap, if i were to tank a game it be a game i was heavily favoured to win and lay big money on the other team cos the odds would be alot better, thats if of course we are talking money line play
