The climb continues
I really think this line and the action its getting (ECU +13) is an over-reaction to last weeks games (for both teams). I am only asking cause I respect your opinion on this, but I dont see how ECU/Skip Holtz gets the same respect as UNC/Butch Davis. I expected the speed and athleticism of the UNC defense to VT fits, but I dont see that in ECU.
I'm not a road chalk kind of guy, but I think the line is light and the situation favors VT. Revenge from last year, coming off two straight losses, and etc... VT is 7points better and Beamer Ball gives them a spread buster at some point?
Best of luck, I am not trying to talk you out of your play, as much as talk me into taking VT.

Seriously?!?!!
Another season of VT being squarely overrated, and having their national title hopes dashed by a regardable defense at home on prime time tv.
Now the Hokie Homers truley believe their beloved team can't win another game because their pipe dreams are crushed.
I live in Hokie Country. I hear it everyday.
The way I see it though, is that Tyrod is much better than I ever gave him credit for. Of course the rushing game is 2nd only to Bama's, which will make any QB look damn good. Except Tyrod has had some winning preformances in the 4th when needed.
Hokie fan will say that Bud's defense is sub-par. Hokie fan however, gives zero credit to Duke's passing game, GT's well executed option offense, and a Butch Davis' motivated Tarheel team.
Thursday, the Hokies face ECU who just last week let Memphis compete. If the mighty Memphis Tigers can throw against ECU, surely Tyrod can. I don't see ECU stopping the run either.
Though the Hokies cannot play for a National Championship, (again....), they are playing for the best bowl possible. I think they score practically at will. I also think that just as so many posters stated last week vs UNC, the Hokie defense comes up with their own points too.
Don't be so down on your team Bibs.
Hokies win by 17 - 20 points.

Firstly, apologies if I appeared to 'bash'. I consistently read your (Bibendi), threads. It's been a tough season, but keep up the work.
I am not a fan of VT, quite the opposite actually. It did not occur to me to compare this team to past VT team for capping purposes. On that note, arguably the 2003 Hokies had a ton of talent, especially on defense. They also had some damn good RBs. However, the limited talent of Bryan Randall at QB, made them easier to defend.
I believe the VT Coaches will/do work hard for a significant bowl. The OCord has opened up the offense a little, and is under enough pressure to push that throttle a little further.
The defense has had to play some really tough teams this year. GT is no joke, absolutely physically pounding teams with their option running. Same for Bama. And give some credit to Thaddeus Lewis throwing darts all over the place for Duke against everybody.
I don't see ECU's talent as comparable to most of what VT has faced. It certainly is not in their numbers. Sure, they beat Memphis, Rice, and Marshall. Doesn't exactly make me shit my pants. They might not be as bad as Marshall, but they should be just what the doctor has ordered on national tv for VT to have a very successful season.

As an impartial bystander, I think if you changed avatars, you might turn this thing around and not lose another week during football season.
That avatar and losing seem to go hand in hand, switch it up to at least the Rams or something. ![]()
