#1 Posted: 6/13/2012 11:08:12 AM It's never too early to throw in some Cup futures. Here are three I like and four I don't. I cashed in on the Kings at 18-1 on a bet I made in July.
Nashville 15-1 With one of the league's best goaltenders, the Predators are poised for another postseason run. Mike Smith cooled off Nashville this year but the Preds will be back, especially if they can add a piece on offense.
San Jose 25-1 Time is running out for big Joe Thornton and Co. to get it done, and at 25-1 they've got some good value. This team makes the playoffs almost every year and definitely has a sense of urgency.
New Jersey Devils 30-1 This team did just make the Stanley Cup, right? Sure, Marty Brodeur isn't getting any younger and they may lose Zach Parise to free agency, but with a couple more bounces in games 1 and 2 of this series, the Devils could be celebrating right now.
Others to consider: Coyotes 40-1, Bruins 15-1
Four I don't like:
LA Kings 10-1 The repeat-era of the NHL has seemingly ended and if you really want to take the Kings, wait till September till they sink to 15-1 or 20-1.
Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 This team gave up the same amount of goals the Kings did this postseason. One team won the Cup and one got knocked out in the first round. Unless they completely overhaul the blueline, I see more postseason struggles in the 'burgh.
Detroit Red Wings 10-1 Nick Lidstrom will be sorely, sorely missed this season. We will finally see just how great he really was for the Wings. This team also doesn't seem to have the edge those older Red Wing teams did.
Tampa Bay 20-1 This is probably a sexy pick at 20-1 considering the Bolts made the conference finals last year and have the league's best scorer, but I don't see them bouncing back to take the Cup. Weak defense will be exposed against the Pittsburghs and Philly's of the East.
Also stay away from: Chicago 10-1, St. Louis, 10-1 |

Penguins are my team...but they have lost in the first round of the playoffs the past two seasons. They don't block shots or anything at all. You need that type of play to go far now I think. |

No they have Rask who has the potential to be really good. It will be interesting to see how he handles playing 55+ games with the pressure of being THE guy.

#7 Posted: 6/13/2012 6:28:45 PM also a Penguins fan BUT I agree with Absolutxedge22. blue line is weak and Fluery looked horrid against the Flyers. hopefully getting Vokoun will "push him" to perform better next next season.
as for the LA Kings, they are LOADED and have their team set at least for next season so unless Quick is a "one hit wonder" like Jim Carey was for the Washington Capitals, they have a VERY good chance to repeat
the Tampa Bay "Bugs" were my preseason East long shot this last season and they still look tampting with their offense BUT they desperately need D&G. wierd how Smith SUCKED there them moves to Phoenix and become 'Der Zauber Schmied" (The Magic Smith)
and I think Skubishack makes a VERY good point. you never KNOW what will happen over the summer. Quick is on the last year of his contract @ 1.7 million and is an UFA end of next season. pissing contest with Kings front office over $$$? and IF he gets a fat long team contract does he become a lazy behind Luongo, Bryzgalov or Fleury? |

Ya he is a tremendous goalie. 2 years ago he ran out of steam and his quality of play went down as the playoffs wore on. The Bs need to keep him positive because he has a major temper.
If his conditioning and mentality are in the right place he will make the Bruins dangerous. |

#12 Posted: 8/1/2012 11:41:23 AM Where do the Nucks come in... C'mon 2011 and 2012 they were the best team with the best record only to come into contact with two hot goalies Thomas and Quick.. On paper they were the better team....Devils I dont see making it 2013.. Will not get past Pitt. |

#13 Posted: 8/7/2012 7:25:46 PM I don't know about you guys, but I see the Rangers at least making it to the finals.. they fell short this year, but not by much. Their team gets better and better every off-season and with rick nash coming in now? I think they'll be a fun team to watch
Can anyone else picture a Nashville-NY Rangers final? |

#14 Posted: 8/8/2012 1:32:43 AM Rangers with the Rick Nash PU. Will be a strong team to face but in the post season anything can happen. Look at the teams knocked out last yr. Let's hope the season starts on time. I'm waiting. I am watching NHL replays. If there is a delay to the season rangers Gabby will have time to heal. |

I like the Final with a 94 repeat but a sweep....Nucks will not sweep anymore playoffs. League is hard, and each series will be a war. There was some talk today of an arena being built in southern ontario, a plug and play. thoughts? |
