#1 Posted: 2/25/2008 10:05:45 AM you stated in a post yesterday that the leafs have youngsters that look promising. am i missing something here. are you talking about steen or stajan????? who both in my mind are 3rd line players at best and stajan isn't even signed for next year....just look at their stats. kilger, devereaux, tucker, blake, antropov, wellwood, ponikarovsky, moore just will not make this team any better for years to come. even mark bell isn't signed for next year.
the only young players on their team right now who might have a bright future are tlusty, stralman and white who they are pissing off already because of being benched in favour of hal gill????
this team is horrible as we speak and if they can't sign sundin in the offseason, next year will be even worse.

#3 Posted: 2/25/2008 10:19:47 AM I think he's talking about the players playing on the marlies right now, most of them are amazing, we also have oung prospects in europe such as Nikolai Kulemin. |

#4 Posted: 2/25/2008 12:38:48 PM Tlusty and Stralman. Unless you want the Leafs to look exactly like the Marlies, I believe two promising youngsters should suffice no?

I couldn't disagree more. You have to look at the potential of these players, not merely their present form. These are players who can definitely contribute more. The issue they're having stems from management and coaching. Maurice is simply not effective. I have said this from day one. You can't expect to bring in young players and have the team improve right away. YOu have better chances of improving your team with people who can work with each other's style of play. |

#5 Posted: 2/25/2008 6:00:27 PM iv'e been to 6 live games this year and i have never seen worse hockey in 3 of them in my life. the didn't pass, they didn't hit and worst of all the didn't stick for their fellow players. overall they just didn't care. the washington game i went to was 7-1 for the caps in the 3rd period when brashear came out and was looking for a fight. i guarantee you that any other team than the leafs would have obliged but not the leafs because they didn't care. no coach at this level should have to teach these guys how to pass or to how to hit. maurice has done a decent job with the garbage he has to work with.
the bottom line is that the leafs have way to many SOFT players that are only here for the paycheck. |

#7 Posted: 2/25/2008 9:35:53 PM The brain trust on TSN is killing me. If you added Milbury and Ferguson together you still wouldn't have 1 GM. Duthie could do a better job at the helm then these 2 boobs. |

sad to see isn't it. to little to late just like last year. they are just screwing themselves out of a top notch draft choice. they will play good down the stretch just like last year and then everything will be alright.

I actually do. Call it as you see it Hunt. That's your opinion and you're entitled to it.
when i pay good money for tickets and see no effort like i have more than once this year i have the right to be pissed off or as you call it "whine".
Did you happen to go to those ones where they played well at home?
Maybe you're seeing what you want to see.
As far as their placing, you know what, times like this show who the real supporters are...most of these chameleons scream in bars when they get to the playoffs and be the first ones to whine when the going gets tough. Geez. Stop going to ACC. Simple. You'll be doing the place a favour perhaps. |

#13 Posted: 2/26/2008 6:16:19 PM huntman is right. What the darn is the point in bringing in Fletcher to trade Belak. What a joke. Now they are just good enough to barely miss the playoffs and get a middle 1st rd pick. If I was still in Toronto I would be screaming bloody murder. |

Well of course he is. After all he has been to 6 Leafs game. I, on the other hand, have only been to about a dozen or so.

#16 Posted: 2/26/2008 7:08:07 PM bobby....i actually have season tickets and have had them for 18 years and counting. this will be the 1st year that i will not have gone to at least 20 or more games. i have two more to go to this year (nj and philly) and i have sold the rest. even selling them this year wasn't nearly as easy as other years because of the product on the ice.
my point is i know the leaf team very well and this years addition is one of the most disappointing ever with regards to work ethic. |

every game they lose i cheer, they win then i whine. are you a leaf fan, if you are wouldnt you rather see them lose and get a good draft pick, or win for awhile and tease us and fall just short of the playoffs again and get a mid round pick and not gain anything at all. |

#19 Posted: 3/3/2008 5:15:22 PM Mats with another multi-pointer the other night by the way. Man oh man.
Regarding the draft pick. Is that the only argument i'm going to keep hearing here because the more it's mentioned, the less potent it becomes. I am becoming really tired of having to argue about the same thing.
Face it...they are in a spot right now that's very convenient to whiners. If they drop the games, whiners from a different camp will start shouting "Look at these losers drop the games". If they keep winning, which is the morally right thing to do, the whiners aka pro-draft fans will start saying "look at this team winning now and missing out on the draft pick."
And somehow Mats is all the cause of this. LOL I am not a Sundin fan at all and I am not going to defend him anymore than the next guy wearing a Leafs uniform but I am not one to keep my trap shut when I smell bullshit. What's fair is fair. Don't blame Mats for exercising his right. After all, he is doing HIS job. Blame management for not owning up to their mistakes and not living up to their respective responsibilities. Yes, I am talking about you Maurice. Yes, I am talking about you Ferguson. Yes, I am talking about you Tanenbaum. And even you Peddie who should've advised Tanenbaum much earlier about Ferguson. |

#20 Posted: 3/3/2008 6:15:39 PM Huntman and Bobby ...sorry have to weigh in....
where do you think they will finally end up.!!!!
do you think this will make a drastic difference in draft picks.
do you think Tennenbaum (assuming he had Plan A) ever shared it with anyoe else but Fletcher????
Would you as a coach tank without a "plan and a promise"
Would you as a player.... NO...PLAYERS PLAY TO WIN!
Who is running the asylum, not the fab 5, not Matts, not Paul...not even Fletcher...it Tennenbaum....the man needs to disappear...
in my humble opinion.... |
