#4 Posted: 10/4/2012 7:16:35 PM 50-50% split for players and owners is fair. Players should go to the KHL and see how the other half lives and maybe they will come back and kiss the owners fools for a job. |

Oh YA. the KHL really SUCKS. probably playing half the games for two thirds the NHL money. here's the Metallurg Magnitogorsk (Malkin's team) schedule for October. 12 games and NO B2B's. btw, Aleksandr Radulov went to CSKA Moscow for MORE money than the predators were offering. |

...
bill conveniently didn't state (at least not to my knowledge) if that is $100 million gross or net...
keep in mind, given the sorry financial state of 9 or 10 franchises, there are teams that lose less money by not playing...
a number of teams laid off employees soon after the lockout began...
in any case i don't feel symapthy for either side in this mess...
but IMO it's the players who ultimately will be forced to yield to reality

#12 Posted: 10/5/2012 12:16:16 PM Remember back to the last labour stoppage? Fan learned to live without hockey for a whole year. Life goes on. During the stoppage, I remember friends who are fans, swearing they'd never go back to supporting a greedy league, but they eventually did. And I sure as hell know all the degenerate gamblers went back to watching hockey.
I'm not entirely clear on all the issues on the table, but it seems to boil down to money, first and foremost. The players have made their offer, and the owners have made theirs. There's got to be some sort of fair middling, and maybe the other issues can be resolved after a tentative agreement is set in place.
Anyways, this will be resolved sooner or later. The sooner both sides realize this, the better, without alienating the fans. Last time, many feel the players made a lot of concessions. Maybe the owners can lighten up a little this time around.
