Its only defamation if the statements made are untrue...right now it is looking like everything said is 100% true.

If that were true, Freedom and Lou would not make dumb behind promises claiming our BetED money is safe and they would help get it back.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I havent heard anything but lies and excuses from this POS site.

Until I see results from this situation, I wont trust them and would advise others to do the same.

Seem as if Cover have nicely swept this under the carpet.
I hope all involved can look at themselves in the mirror.

It would seem like the least that an advertising site that collected 10's or 100's of 1000's of advertising $$ from their # 1 book could do for their members who lost a similar amount is provide updates.Personally I think the least that should be done is far more than that, but updates are the absolute minimum.

Dudes,

Want an update? There hasn't been any news from our source since last week's information.

And there isn't a whole lot more to say right now. betED has been warned by their lawyers not to make deals with other sportsbooks. So we have to begin working on Plan B.

We are working on a plan with our lawyers and you will probably see some small-scale community action beginning within a few days as we begin working on how we can get the DOJ to cough up the funds.

But the bottom line is that it's not going to be easy.

Read this quote in this article.

“Illegal gambling proceeds are forfeited to the government,” spokeswoman Vickie E. LeDuc said. “Anyone who believes that an Internet gambling business owes them money can try to collect from the Internet gambling business. The government is not going to give the money to gamblers.”

So, you can keep blaming us for this situation, but the DOJ is admitting that they have the money and are not going to give it back.

So, please, keep talking all you want about how terrible we all are over here. In the meantime, I'm trying to work on a way to get the DOJ to admit they are wrong.

Freedom...why waste even 2 minutes out of your day trying to get the DOJ to release our money?  You and everyone else knows there is no shot of that happening.  A bailout is much more possible, especially becuase there is still a book (betonline)  that is still interested.  You just need to convince your cousins over at beted to do the right thing for their players for once.

rich, I'd love nothing more than a bailout to get done.

But I am not going to tell anybody to ignore their lawyer's advice.

So, until their lawyer changes his mind, I'm working on Plan B.

The comment from the DOJ only says that they got some of the funds belonging to Beted or earmarked to them. In no way does it suggest that they impounded all funds. For some reason you and lou have long suggested that the DOJ got all funds. Inquiring minds yearn to know how you are of aware of this unless there was in fact a 'hand in glove' relationship which you have labeled defamatory.

OK Freedom your doing it again. From day 1,  I said there would be no bailout. Why in the flying darn would another book deal with BetED with the FEDS not only  in the middle of an ongoing investigation with BetED but are shutting them down. Any book that deals with BetED is just asking to be raided next. Remember the DOJ believes 100% this garbage is illegal, right or wrong thats the bottom line.
Freedom your post, even at this point may get peoples hopes up and this situation will never go away. The FEDS will not give us back our $$$ because they believe us the bettors were acting unlawful.
While your convincing the FEDS to give us our $$$ back also try  get them to stop raiding books and while your at it see if you can get them to legalize and tax street drugs.
Your setting yourself up for failure man....The best thing you can do at this point is apologize for your promises because I believe your intents were good but this is something you have never dealt with before. Then just check in here and there and say your sorry BetED was taken down and you wish there was something you can do but there is not. IN about 6 months this will fade away but you have to stop with your plan B's and C's cuz the bottom line nobody will get their $$$ back, BetED will sell their customer INFO to other books and go away and ex BetED clients will get cold calls from those other books.  How could this be anything but a bad outcome. I am just being real.

if i signed up with beted a week before the bust and deposited funds with them, and never placed a bet..is that still considered "illegal gambling proceeds". all i did was move my money from one place to another, the money is not the result of any illegal gambling

Giant, Who wants to know? Since you weren't specific with your question, I will answer "Yes."

MikeMed, you are absolutely right. It is a longshot.

I'm stuck in the middle here.

On the one side, I'm getting nailed for not keeping people updated - even when there's nothing to update. On the other side, when I update what I'm working on, I get nailed for getting people's hopes up.

Regardless, that's what I'm working on. I don't have a lot of high hopes for it myself, but it's the best option tight now.
