I always go end of March, beginning of April.  March Madness, opening day of baseball, and NBA teams fighting for playoff spots.  Great weather as well

Is it best to book early or last minute to get better package rates. Looking to go around early Oct or Week 4 for the NFL fans.

rates always based on supply/demand, check to see if any large conventions in town, I lock early, others may suggest otherwise

Mr. Math "What's the best time to go to Vegas"?

Mona Lisa Vito: "That's a Bullshit Question"

District Attorney, Jim Trotter III "Does that mean you can't anwser it"?

Mona Lisa Vita: "It's impossible to answer"

Look at the things you want to do and then pick the time.
Do you want to bet sports/super bowl?
Do you want to go golf, check out the temperatures in August/December, not happening most years.
Do you want to see a certain performer?
Do you want to save money, the place is dead the week of Christmas and they have to give the rooms away.

Just all depends on what you want to do

Weather NO NO's:

June, July and August.  Way too hot!  But I'm spoiled by the cool southern Calif weather, so some of you from hot climates might tolerate it.

Best months:  April, October.

Early April or mid to late September. Weather is the best at this time and good betting options at this time with baseball and football.

Who cares about weather in Vegas  Unless you plan on going rock climbing or want to hit the pool parties, don't let the weather factor in your decision.  The weather is the same in the Casinos and strip joints all year long

I saw this post and had to comment on the Vegas heat.  Don't give me that dry heat bullshit, 117 degrees is not good.  I remember going to a job interview in my suit and tie to a place way down on on the strip and since I just moved there I thought I'd take the scenic route, from my place by the South Pointe down LVB.  It was only 5 or 6 miles, so what?  It was mid-August and I didn't have air conditioning.  On the way back I was stuck in traffic wedged in between buses, right in front of The Bellagio and their glorious fountains.  I was so damn hot and the water bottle I just bought disappeared in seconds so I sat there, sweating.  Breathing in just hot, awful air.  I did contemplate leaving my car, jumping the fence and diving face first into the pool of fountain water.  Then I thought how long I'd then be without water whilst being arrested so I decided against it.  But I did strongly consider the dive.  Now that's heat.  Heat no human should endure.

sept-oct.  you have baseball playoffs and you have football.  Sports action everyday.  Plus the weather is pretty good then.

I think Crash above has good advice for you.  The only other thing I'd suggest is stay AWAY from the time the NBA playoffs end until the first weekend of college football.  It's too darned hot and there's little to bet on...
