#3 Posted: 6/12/2012 6:03:54 PM You know money is no object. You only buy them once a year. Major chain bookstore or supermaket should have it.
Make sure you get a Marc Lawrence also. It's got stats/trends/angles you would not believe. Crazy garbage like
"The last time UTEP played on a Thursday vs. a LH Quarterback off b2b SU losses on grass, they are 7-0 ATS"
Great stuff |

#5 Posted: 6/12/2012 6:10:17 PM I literally drove around for hours one night and couldn't find it anywhere. I finally went to the mall with my girlfriend, walked into a Chapters, and luckily snagged the last copy. I say bookstore is your best bet.

Some supermarkets carry them. I got mine at one, but the other suprermarket chain in town doesn't carry them. You can always order a copy online, or try Walmart/Target. |

#18 Posted: 6/24/2012 12:12:50 AM Used to be a big fan of Phil Steele's mag. Not so much anymore. Just too hard of a read. I don't really care who Phil Steele had as his most underrated team going into the 1999 season, or how teams fared ATS back in 2001. I think he over does it a little bit. |

#19 Posted: 6/24/2012 1:09:29 AM I have a girlfriend in Charlotte, NC and she always buys me a copy of Mark Lawrence's College Preview by June 26th at the latest. I am able to get Phil Steele's by June 8th at the latest now from either Barnes n Noble or Walmart. I'm ready for everything by August thanks to all of this. |

I agree with this 100%. I've said for years that it would be a much more informative magazine if every paragraph wasn't a Phil Steele infomerical.

#23 Posted: 6/26/2012 6:53:31 PM yeah i like steeles book my problem is a little too much of patting himself on the back. I picked Hawaii in 1999 fine Phil don't tell me 19,347 times. Otherwise a great book |

#24 Posted: 6/26/2012 7:13:36 PM The writing has got a lot better the last few years. About 4 years ago, he fell in love with the word "simply" and used it in every other sentence. "They simply led the nation in rushing" etc. There were also a ton of mistakes in that edition.
As far as patting himself on the back, it is annoying, but remember he is a tout, and I think that is in tout's DNA to do so.
TBH, the magazine is so much better than Athlon etc I can forgive a lot. Where else can I get a full page of stats and a full page breaking a team down by position? |

How's it going Hookem. Haven't seen you around the MLB forum, I guess you don't cap baseball? This will be my first year wagering on College Football and I can't wait. Got my Phil Steele magazine a couple of weeks ago and it has been enjoyable flipping through and looking at the breakdowns for the first time. Good to see a fellow pucker in here. How long have you been wagering on College Football?
