I look forward to another year at covers sharing college football capping knowledge so that we all benefit. Right now I am highly inclined to take Penn St for the following reasons. Central Florida has a great program, they have tapped into the great Florida pool of high school football players in a big way and they will be very good, dominating in fact, in their division for years to come. But Bortles, their star QB is gone to the NFL and who knows how good his replacement will be. Penn ST had a true freshmen step in at QB, Hackenberg, and he is very good. No question this is a huge advantage for Penn St. Penn St have seen 4 head coaches in 4 years since the godawful mess that was the child molestation scandal that was shamefully attempted to be covered up. They now have a new coach James Franklin who is (in my opinion) a great coach. He turned around the Vanderbilt program and has brought a staff of eighteen with him to Penn ST. All he has done so far is bring a recruiting class ranked in the top 5 in the nation to Penn ST. Penn St is still being penalized by having only 75 scholarships while other division 1 schools have 85. This lower number of scholarships really starts hurting later in the year when injuries require a deep bench. This game is being played in Ireland of all places so it is at a neutral site. Keep an eye on Penn St this year, I think this year is their year to shine ATS just like last year was Central Florida's year. Central Florida will have a solid defense back this year but losing their star QB, running back, and stud wide receiver to the NFL and three starters on the O line to graduation will be too much for them. Penn St moneyline.

I'm in on PSU with new coach Franklin and Hackenberg QBing, the Lions have enough to pull off the win on the Emerald Isle. Hopefully they put and end to a couple of trends (Lions are 0-4 ats last 4 August contests, and the Knights are 6-0 ats last 6 non-conference games.)
Penn St - 25 UCF - 24
Nittany Lions pk over 48
HAM & EGGS and a Bloody Mary will be on the colonels menu for this early morning match up. Top O the Morning to You

I really like Franklin and see him setting the tone for the program. You forgot to mention Storm Johnson leaving school for UCF as well.
The one thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on this one is...How can you bet against a guy named O'Leary playing in Ireland? That being said, he didn't have any "Luck o' the Irish" at ND, did he?

Franklin will definitely have the Lions ready to play, UCF may have some hangover.... I don't have a strong feel for the game but I will take Penn St, because....well, it's breakfast gambling! Not sure I've done that before (I guess eating McDonalds breakfast or Taco Bell breakfast is another kind of gambling)...
