#102 Posted: 3/22/2012 4:06:39 PM Honestly I surprised that the NFL did anything about it. Gregg Williams said after the NFC Championship game that their game plan was to hurt Brett Farve. They wanted to hit him early, late, legal or illegal. It makes no difference as long as they get their hits on him. As a matter of fact there was three clear late hits that were never called. The worst of which was the one where Brett Farve was hit below the knees on the interception that put the game into OT. It should have been first and goal MIN but instead went to OT. The NFL came back and admitted that several officiating errors were made (including the play I mentioned above) but of course MIN didn't make the Superbowl and NO did.
There was an article that came out by Yahoo sports recently that talks about how Sean Payton made it clear to the players and coaching staff that he will sell his soul to win a Superbowl. Therefore, he was not only being this bounty program but encouraged it. He was behind the stragity to get Brett Farve out of the game no matter what because they knew they couldn't win straight up.
At the end of the day yes I am bitter as a Vikings fan but more importantly the intent to injure makes this situation even worst. Notice it is always people like Sean Payton who are out of harms way that order others to give and take the cheap shots. |
