Do post rarely,BUT,do read a lot on this forum.Do not know what Auburns power rating will be but bein a Tiger fan an graduate,do know we have hard times coming.Malzone was not the guy to lead this program.Niether was Chizik for that matter. He won a national title with a decent team that caught lighting in a bottle with Newton. This young man lead that team to comeback wins over Miss St.,Clemson,South Carolina,an Alabama,an not a comeback but in doubt without him vs Georgia.Just comin back against a Saban coached team in T-Town,in a storied rivalry says it all.At 6.5 an 250 with his play making ability he put A.U.on his back an carried them.Next year, not so without him. After the beatdown Alabama gave Auburn in 2011 Dye told Malzone and Roof,in the locker room if something came up they needed to take it.Less than 2 weeks later both were gone.Malzone then takes head spot at Ark.St where he takes over a already built Sun Belt team with an all conferance QB and wins 10 an goes to a mid bowl game. Now,only 7 years removed from high-school he is the top man at Auburn,a tried an true SEC program with a storied past itself, not Bama, but with Shug Jordan,Barfield,Dye,Bowden,an Tuberville,,A.U. has fielded good football teams.Chizick was DC for Tuberville, and at Texas. We get him from Iowa St.Many were suprised.Newton did what he wanted. Not good.Discipline was so bad at AU,a security company was hired to moniter the foootball dorm.What!Yes.Dye was a Bear assisstant many years. Some say this was his doing, and it challanged the entire coaching staff.AU is now in spring drills and beat writer J Crepea,a Chizick hater,is pounding out article after article (Mont.Advertiser.Com)about this gift to football and speedy practices installing Malzones no huddle, gimick, fast paced, offense,a new 4-2-5 defense, that is the old 4-4 with outside backers becoming strong safties,no big deal, its run by most large high-schools and is good if you have the people.First thing you learn in coaching,at any level besides pro, is you have to adapt a system to your players, not your players to a system. Many say its great, a lot of these guys were recruited for his system.I believe Auburn is in big trouble with this guy at the helm an a quote from Crepea's article from 3-28,in which a player vying for his 'spot' back said at least "he's not holding grudges".What?Grudges.Really?I have never read of a player use those words about a coach in this state,an i have read a lot of sports sections from Mont,Bham,an Mobile, over the last 32 years. You may have to wait for the right spot, because the oddsmakers won't have them favored much,if at all,but there are major problems on the plains.Chizick was not the answer, niether is his former assistant,an OC,look at 2011 without Cam.We have little talent, little "Big Boy"coaching.no Athletic Director(passed on Patrino),an AU is in BIG TROUBLE!!!

Bondsman i think you guys will do well with malzahn. As for petrino i read somewhere that mike slive told sec programs not to hire Petrino due to his extracurricular activities. again i'm not sure if thats true just something i read
I think you guys will be very good under malzahn going forward but thats my opinion

mike slive did not need to tell SEC programs not to hire Petrino, the schools own PR dept's could have told them that, he is untouchable right now until a few more years have passed and people start to forget the extracurricular stuff he did,
NO MAJOR conference in the country even considered him let alone hired him, so again a conf commish doesn't need to tell BCS conf schools not to touch that guy, it is pretty obvious

I agree. I think the Malzahn experiment will be a complete disaster. SEC defensive coordinators solved his offense before he left for Arky State. They will again struggle to score points, and their defense won't be much better either. They went 0 & 8 in the SEC last season, and I don't see where they'll improve much.
To Malzahn's credit, he did fire all the coaching cancers. I just don't think that'll translate to a lot more wins on the field. I said when Malzahn was hired that this was a terrible hire for Auburn, and I stand by that. This won't end well.

Many of us understand passing on Patrino.I disagree with it,but thats me.He is a proven and solid head man. Many thought and i was one of them, that Huspeath, the guy at Lou.Lafayette, shoulda been given a deeper look.He was at Navy, then got the head job at North Alabama.Malzone is one of the rare guys who gets the chance to jump from high school to the college level, much less the almost impossible jump to the SEC.It just does'nt happen.Arkansas head man Nutt was heavily recuiting Malzones QB an several other 4 an 5 chip kids, the Springdale 5. Arkansas does'nt have that many and Nutt pulled AAU trick and got them all,by hiring Malzone.Lot of friction,Nutt did not like that style of offense.Mustain left for Michigan, another for USC,fans turned on Nutt, off he goes,Malzone goes to Tulsa where he gets OC.Chizick hires him at AU an after 09 under questionable tatics Newton arrives. One an done,he goes pro. Auburn has miserable season in 2011.Has to be one of the all time worst coaching jobs in recent history. To fall that far in a year?Sure people were gunning for them but AU was getting beat and beat bad.Worm turned in Clemson game and all downhill from there.Malzone did not jump ship.He was escorted. So heres Chizcik, and to his credit he took full responsiblity, never heard him or read of him saying anything bad about any of it.My point is he should not have been there to begin with.Malzone is either very resourceful,or,very lucky. He has not "climbed the ladder"as most college guys do.Whats he do next, get the job at New England? My good friend and a man i learned a lot of football from says it "can't get any worse".I say it can.Malzone has not,in my opinion, paid his dues.Something went wrong at Arkansas, and a stint at Tulsa with 3 years at Auburn, two of which they beat nobody and a year at Ark.St with a already built team just is not enough for many AU fans and supporters to believe this guy can bring Auburn back in the shape the program is in.My friend says they will give him 3 years.I hope not. That is just is to many possible beatdowns, not to mention covers.A

2nd and i'm not trying to be an a$$ but if you don't like the hire of Malzahn don't support Auburn
3rd I think you guys will be good in time the mistake was the fact they wanted to go to a pro offense LY. Auburn can't beat Bama playing Bama's game you have to do something different. Malzahn is a mad genius of offense Has malzahn been around the block? yes he has it seems like most coaches are these days. I liek the recruits you got i like the ellis johnson hire

Agreed,EllisJohnson is a good DC,and defense could improve.Hudspeath was never a serious canidate, but a lot of us saw a lot of good things in him and of course AU could have made an offer La could not of matched but point is moot, they never took a hard look at him.I hope you are right packers 1992,and i know you are not bein a$$.I have to support, that is only right,as a lifelong fan and grad.I did not like Bowden's coaching. It was a similiar situation, but i supported, like many die hard AU people do.Lotta lean years here growing up with Bear calling us that "cow college on the other side of the state".Bo over the top in 82 and Dye for next 10 years changed that.Again i hope you are right as rain.I just don't see it.Post later as spring progresses ,and watch A-Day game.Good talking to you

you know bondsman i can't imagine what its like for ya. Every where you go there are Bama fans where you work,go eat etc. Just gotta hang in there. As for the Malzahn hire they probably hired him due to the fact some believe its better to hire the devil you know instead of the devil you don't know
I feel for ya man i really do. Its college football anything can happen. hey who thought A&M would be that good. You never know. Hang in there man

I wanted Petrino too .If u look how much Arkansas St improved from the beginning of the season to the end it was remarkable.Ark St.The only coach that hasnt had a great football team since Shug was Barfield. We know what Shug did.Dye won 4 SEC titles and really flitred with National Titles in 1983,1986,1988 and 1989.Tiny Terry went 20-1-1 in 2yrs with a 11-0 team plus a trip to ATL Peyton tried to give Auburn.Tuberville has a top5 team of the decade in 2004,beat Bama 6 straight and had good teams 2000.2002.2004,2005,2006 then Chizik won a National Title.U know before I thought Malzahn didnt have the personality to be a head coach but look at Bellichek,Miles, and others. The man's wife is a freaking disaester waiting to happen, but that will keep him working around the clock.Gus outcoached Saban 2 out of 3 of their matchups.Chizik didnt just wake up and become a bad coach, but what Isaw last year was sickening and Im sure it will get better for Auburn QUICKLY.I think Gus is the best offensive mind in football, but I agree with Jimmy in that folks were starting to figure him out.I know Auburn will finish at least.500 in SEC PLAY..WINS-Arky,Tenn,MissSt,Georgia, will be 50/50 then likely losses to TxA&M,Bama. Then hopefully Auburn can net 2 out of 3@LSU,Ole Miss and Georgia which will be a tough feat..There is no way Auburn can do it with Frazier or that option QB..This frosh..MR.FOOTBALL Jeremy Johnson I believe might be the answer.Being he was Mr.Basketball Runnerup tells me he is a great athlete with prob.good hand/eye coordination plus he a great athlete.Coming in as a freshman and winning will be very tough for him and he s got to get better blocking. There s alot of problems at Auburn. The linebackers need to improve as well as secondary.I like the DEFLINE,

@Bondsman,Malzahn should be a good hire..Here s why- Great offensive mind,he will recruit well with Rodney Garner who is one of the best in college football,he lives&breathes football. He did a great job at ArkySt//West is loaded with good coaches-Saban,Miles,Mullin,Simlin,Freez,Belemna and now Gus..somebody has to lose.I like Auburn to win all4 non conf games plus MissSt&OleMiss(rebels have never beat Auburn in consecutive yrs since Ive been alive plus both are at home..Auburn will beat Tenn in Knoxville so that is 7-5 right there which is obviously unacceptable but Auburn will win at least 1 out of Bama,Georgia,LSU,TexasA&M..Maybe 2..I think right after last yr Id take 7-5 but we wikk see.Saban went 7-6 his 1st yr but took over a 6-7 team.I dont know how u cant support Gus..if u dont support the coach what are u pulling for the logo.U know for him to have a great season he needs to beat LSU or Georgia IMO.WAR EAGLE

Kudos to u pack92!!The big differance here in Alabama is UA,and their storied past.Bear as all fans know was a living legend.I might add also a fantastic football coach. He and Bum Phillips are the two men that put a number system to the defensive line alignment.Starting with a o tech on the center,1 tech,2 tech,3 tech all the way to a de's 6,7,or 9.Genuis,like a ghost 9 where de is way outside of offensive tackle, making him step out to block,or back pick him up,while you blitz c or b gap.Sori gettin off subject. After Bear was gone Perkins, then Curry, both stuggled,to appease Bama fans.Curry goes 10-0,goes to Auburn for 1st Iron Bowl in history at Auburn,I mean that game was just not gonna be winnable, loses, gets bricks thrown thru his home windows.Ugly.Stallings comes in puts Bama back in "BAMA FORM".Wins title in 92,with one of the best D'S in college history. After, they go thru Franconi, where is he?,anyway then Shula.I got to attend a few clinics there, and camps,a personable and just all around good guy, but, not good enough.Enter Saban. When at LSU,he came to Bham several times to a big 3 day high school clinic we have yearly. You go in there expecting to hear about the exoctic 'Fire zone blitz package' and x an o's and he talks little football, but a lotta life stuff, adversity, confidence, preperation,he is good, real good.Hell,he will have a room full of 40 year olds ready to pad up.What he has done at Bama speaks for itself.Back to point, sori,Auburn fans for the most part have ties to Auburn, went to school there,no somebody that did, family,u know what i am saying, not Bama fans,no ties at all but bein from or living in Alabama.I'm not talking about alumni, just every day people. As backwards as this state is in many areas(people used to say thank the Lord for Mississippi, now Mississippi says thank the Lord for Alabama)this state is football nuts.Just wearing a Auburn hoodie around will draw Bama jesters, and go in a bar with a Bama game on and they are winning,or coming back to win, well you'd have to see it to get the real feel.People love winners, and Bama wins, and wins, and wins.Thats why we need a guy, that see's the bigger picture.I have always had great respect for Alabama, always will.Saban has built a incredible program there, and he is a outstanding football man.I am a Bama fan everyweek but one.We have been on the short end that stick many, too many times.Tubbervilles string of wins ended Dubose, and in my opinion,Curry,Perkins,Franconi, and Shula losing to AU,cost them.In a state that competes with Flordia,Georgia,Lousiana, for talent,a guy running a Oregon type offense, even if he has tweaked it,is not gonna get it done. There is nothing knew in football. The Spread is a updated single wing,Notre Dame Box,type of offense.Blitz it up the pipe, and off the edge,at the same time, and have two MEN,playing down inside,it is very beatable.Saban and Alabama play smashmouth, both sides of the ball.Beat em if you can.Sori 92 about essay paper, get fired up,Bondsman
