If there's "smart money" being bet on a team during bowl season I'd imagine that it would come when the lines open the first week of December. I doubt it would be coming in 3 days after Christmas during a very popular vacation week... If the sharps were so smart they would have gotten Rutgers +2.5 3 weeks ago, not now at +1.
This is public money coming in on Rutgers late... Va Tech has played a much tougher schedule than Rutgers. I'll take the experienced coach vs the first year guy. The Senior QB over the Sophmore. AND the more talented team.
VA TECH +1 As we saw last night, the Big East is not that good! You correct for the most part about smart money. It can come in early and often does but big money moves late when not backed up by a strong consensus of bettors is also a smart money play, particularly one as large at this one on Rutgers.

smart money looks at numbers and injuries... in this case a big issue is suspensions. why would you jump on a line early when there is 2 to 3 weeks before most of these teams play. injuries, suspensions, ailments can all occur in that time and usually does effect several bowl games. |

#31 Posted: 12/28/2012 7:06:26 PM also, coaching changes... cincy didn't have a head coach and still knocked off an acc team. yet, you seem to think duke won that game or something. when rutgers knocks off va tech the big east will be 2-0 against them. |

#32 Posted: 12/28/2012 8:18:00 PM Said it yesterday and will say it again: The Big East and the ACC suck big time. They should be banned not only from BCS games, but from all FBS bowl games. |

I didn't suggest that the Bearcats game be bet early... I was refering to this game (Rutgers). It's obvious you didn't watch the game last night as Duke was clearly the better bet... And don't try and give me that rookie gambler BS that the winning side is always the right side... I had CIN last night but it was a bad bet, I just got lucky.
Since you don't actually watch the games you bet, I'll tell ya how ya did... Rutgers lost 13-10.
If ya ever want some advice, just ask...
