Jazz +11 (-110) to win 30 units
I know the Spurs are pissed off about blowing their 1st seed last season after losing to Grizz in Round 1. The Spurs are a great team on a mission, but they are playing a Jazz team that won't be intimidated and are ready to take the Spurs best punch.
The Jazz beat the Spurs at home, lost a close game by 4 to the Spurs at home, and also battled the Spurs tough in SA after a first half where San Antonio shot a ridiculous 60% or so. Ignore the first meeting as the Jazz were a joke in the first 2 weeks of the year. Utah is gutsy and with big overtime wins over the Mavs and Magic and must-win clinchers on the road in Portland, and at home to the Spurs and Suns they proved they were ready for the playoffs.
The Jazz have the size in Al and Millsap to dominate the paint down low, have PG Harris playing great of late, and have tremendous depth with key veterans like Howard and Bell coming back. The Spurs have all the presure to easily blow out this 8th seed, but I don't think it's gonna be straightforward tomorrow.
Celtics ML (+105) to win 30 units
''There was so much excitement here in Atlanta,'' Johnson remembered. ''Just the way the crowd was into it and made this a very hostile environment. Man, it was pleasing to play in this building. It was a lot of fun.'' What does he expect this time? ''I know it's going to be loud,'' Johnson said, breaking into a sly grin. ''I just hope it's going to be in our favor.''
I love the Hawks and I think they can win this series but I don't like their chances tomorrow. The fans in ATL are not high on this team cause they blow out in tough sitautions in previous years. Tomorrow there's a ton of pressure to show they are a new team. The Celts have no pressure here and their bench will feel good about the way they have been playing. I think the Hawks need a game to get going and may get down on themselves if they fall behind early.
Grizzlies -5.5 (-105) to win 30 units
The Grizzlies have been playing well the past month and winning. The last week they have had big leads but have been in cruise control against shitty teams. This team is ready for the playoffs and they are amped up. With last year's experience and success they will be under control at home and know how to handle the pressure.
Paul is back from injury but may be rusty. Griffin and Jordan in their first big playoff games will be jittery. I think the Clips and their core won't be ready for this crazy sold out Memphis crowd in Game 1 and will have a tough time with the ballhawking defensive pressure brought by Allen and Conley. Grizz by double digits.
