#1 Posted: 4/21/2012 6:54:37 PM He left his feet its charging 2min penalty MAYBE AT MOST A 1 game suspension because he took out a star veteran and the NHL has to protect its stars. But his hit was shoulder to chin he left his feet which is charging period. |

#2 Posted: 4/21/2012 6:55:54 PM He is a repeat offender and launched at Hossas head. Should've been twice that in my opinion |

Played hockey for 15 years of my life. The NHL has gotten soft, but in the 90's that garbage is maybe a penalty. I miss the old days |

#6 Posted: 4/21/2012 7:29:46 PM I really see no head shot you are taught to hit shoulder to chin that is clean. Look at old Scott Steven's hits he always lined em up shoulder to chin. But Torres did leave his feet that is all I see wrong with that play.

#8 Posted: 4/21/2012 8:12:39 PM the fact that there was no charging penalty assessed is rediculous. if he didn't leave his feet, i say it's a clean hit. but he did leave his feet and launched himself, that and raffi is well known for garbage like this is why they dropped the hammer down on him.
if they went back to the Scott Stevens type equipment, there is probably less injuries. the garbage these kids where now a days is fuckin near armour compared to the stuff we wore back in the day.
i'm 35 and played my whole life. i remember what is was like when i first upgraded to "newer/better" gear.
love Scott Stevens he was a man amongst boy's |

#11 Posted: 4/22/2012 3:11:58 AM the original Poster is forgetting that not only did Torres leave his feet and headhunt and let's not forget that he has 3 incidents alone in 2011, he also did not break his stride. he was skating full speed right up to the hit. the majority of hockey players glide in to their opponents using momentum, not full strides right up until he makes contact with his opponent |

#12 Posted: 4/22/2012 3:28:40 AM If hossa got up right away and was ok there probably wouldn't have even been a suspension. When it initially happened the refs didn't think it has that bad a hit and didn't even call a penalty. darn Shanahan.....i agree with kushjester....nhl has gone soft in a way with all this bullshit. |

#13 Posted: 4/22/2012 3:29:07 AM as others have pointed out the hit was late. Torres is a repeat offender and has several similar incidents. these previous incidents played a big factor into how many games Torres recieved. I would like to see a discipline system that would keep the offender out of the lineup the same amount of time the victim is on the injured list.
Hossa out 53 games due to concussion
Torres should be out 53 games due to lentgh of concussion he caused Hossa
this isn't a perfect system and would need to be refined because you would run into situation where the 4th line thugs would destroy the superstars and keep the stars out all season and that would mean the offender would be out all season. this would be seriously unfair as all the stars would be on the shelf which would severely impact their teams and the NHL's bottom line. the 4th liners would be out with little or no impact caused to their teams. I wouldn't want to have brendan shannahan's job. |
