3 runs in 4 innings was good. They should be pissed that the cincy bullpen shut them down. +145ish on the RL for cincy was very nice

fyi to all covers people who i respect

1.any team , does not not matter what sport does not give a garbage about run line wins(baseball)
about point spread ( basketball & football )
about puck line  ( hockey )
to them a win is a win.

2.dealing with baseball because thats what we are all betting on now to make money.keep this in mind right around 29% of all games final score are 1 run wins. BOOKIES LOVE RUNLINES because of that.factor in the dog winning almost 30%. that leaves only 40% +or- a couple for runline wins. do the math that equals losses over time.

think about it this cin. and cubs game the Bookie only paid on the ml he COLLECTED on the dog bets & the rl bets do you think vegas or the bookies lost$$$ on thistake no offense just trying to educate & enliten everyone

Your math is a little off. Out of the 29% of 1 run wins 30ish percent are dogs. So it equals around 50-50 on RL's. Just pointing that out before someone comes up with the great idea of betting +1.5 on all games. Good post though

A blast from the past that is applicable today --

Carlos Marmol destroys another Cubbies -1.5 runline

I didn't have the Cubbies on the RL but I'm sure some people did and greatly appreciated Marmol's contributions today.

Almost every favorite today COMPLETELY missed covering the RL, but the Cubs, nah....they kept their RL backers in it until the last possible minute. Only to screw em royally.

Thats a shitty existence

MESA, Ariz. -- The Chicago Cubs and closer Carlos Marmol avoided an arbitration hearing by agreeing to a three-year contract on Monday, according to a major league source.

The deal is believed to be in the $20 million range. The Cubs will make an official announcement later Monday.

kapono: This thread is 2.5 years old. Is there some point in dragging it out of the archives now?

Marmol is the hardest pitcher to get a hit against, or put the ball into play, in baseball, and I think it's not even close.  His BAA and K's are unworldly.  He walks and hits way too many batter though.  If he get the walks down to a serviceable number, his ERA would be unreal.

If you've lost a fair amount of Cubbies runlines cause of this guy like I have, then you'd definitely appreciate it. Anytime I see anything about Marmol I think of this thread.

I think this thread deserves a bump in light of Marmol's recent exploits.

Didn't take long in this 2013 season for this thread to be appropriate.
