keep an eye out for a response from "vegas gourmet" - he is the resident vegas guru and always delivers an honest opinion in a non judegmental way - |

#6 Posted: 12/6/2011 9:51:26 PM I am aware of hotels location and I am aware that the place is old compared to all the new joints but my main concern is the book. When I go to Vegas I only hang in my room while I sleep for a few hours. Heading out Final 4 weekend.

#9 Posted: 1/3/2012 4:41:52 PM Stayed there for three nights during week of Thanksgiving. Rooms are small and have that old feel/smell to them (which they are). The wife and daughter did not like it at all. They do not want to go back. The sports book is pretty plain not too much good to write about. Small and not a lot of excitement going on. The TV set up and seating area was decent except for lack of chairs.
I did like that the Pinball Hall of Fame loaned some pinball machines to them. It's in an area by the food court. It was a blast playing pinball games past and present.
If you are going because of price they do have one of the best deals going of any hotels in the area.
A suggestion if you don't mind an off strip hotel would be a place I prefer which is The Orleans. If you make reservations now you should be able to get a decent price on a room which are much larger than the Riviera. Nice sports book or nice options to watch games in a large bar area or the Irish Pub.
Have fun during the final 4 |

#10 Posted: 1/3/2012 10:24:20 PM Jim,
Appreciate the review, the kind words and the suggestion of the Orleans. I booked the Riv simply b/c of cost. I DO NOT go to Vegas to stay in my room. I have stayed in other places on Strip and they are all the same to me.
Thanks again.

#11 Posted: 1/3/2012 11:21:28 PM The Riv did get a slight renovation , the book is now run by LUCKY's and it is ok but for me I dont stay all day , so if your looking to camp out all day you might want to try the venetian its run by CANTOR and its pretty decent . |

Your are right. My mistake Lucky's bought the book. I will be at the M, and Red Rock for sure. And the Hilton.
BTW... love that avatar!

#15 Posted: 1/27/2012 5:12:34 PM The Riv Sportsbook is small ! I suggest a short walk behind the Riv to the Hilton Sportsbook and you will see a huge difference . |
