Texas Rangers - Darvish (R) -165 @ Toronto Blue Jays - Happ (L) +155

Over 9 +110
Under 9 -120

Anyone see any value anywhere? I love to get the thoughts of this great community to keep me open minded and find out some facts I may have missed.

What makes the Rangers and the Over so appealing at a glance? Because it's a Rangers game?

Definitely a live dog presenting a ton of value. Happ is bad, but not as bad as the line indicates. He got his first win his last outing against the Yanks giving up a pair of 2 run shots, 6 hits, 4 SO, and NO walks. If he continues this form TOR is not such a long shot. At plus money the over is looking juicy but I haven't done any research into Yu's numbers. Accuscore has it @ nearly 50/50. If this is going to be a close game, I think a slug fest is more likely than a pitchers duel.

I definitely love the rangers here today. Not because of dervish tho.. I think he's a wild pitcher on the road but blue jays just can't produce. Happ is no pushover but his numbers aren't so good this year and career against rangers is a bad one. I like Texas run line.. Not the over just because of blue jays offense

I said in a thread yesterday (even though the Blue Jays ended up losing 7-2 after a 4 run 8th by the White Sox) that I believe teams go through certain stretches where they're under or over valued, and I believe that right now the Blue Jays are one of the teams that are undervalued almost daily. The Rangers are almost always overvalued, due to public perception and their recent world series runs. I'm not advocating a play on the Blue Jays here, but I don't see value in the Rangers either.

I am liking the under a lot and doing more research currently. I'll be back with some sort of reasons and write up later. Let's keep the discussion going. Talking about a game is usually constructive around here and most of the time will bring up a factor I've overlooked.

Personally, I don't bet totals until I know who's umping behind the plate.  Once MLB announces the crews later on today I'd revisit the total.

As far as Happ goes, the stats don't show it, but he's pitched better since coming over to the AL. Not to mention, in his career he's only thrown a total of 2 2/3 innings against the Rangers, so they really haven't seen much of him.  The numbers he compiled against them came last year in one very short start in late June in Texas, where we know the ball flies and we know what the Rangers do to lefties.

I'm a little torn between O/U in this case. Darvish has looked excellent @ Rogers Centre this year and against the Jays in general. However, the guy is a rookie so there is no evidence to support he will continue this form. Happ is a guy who can go in there and give teams a viable chance. Although mostly pitching against a softer NL, his SO #'s are very impressive but probably gets negated because the dude walks too many batters. Walking batters could spell trouble vs the #1 offense in the league. Also, he avg 5 innings a start which means you will have to trust the lowly TOR bullpen to get it done on the Under. TEX bats finally awoke yesterday but were silent prior, and TOR is lax in offensive production. Tough to call.

I'm a lot more comfortable betting the Blue Jays here than the total.  BOL
