#1 Posted: 2/23/2012 10:55:09 PM this is my first game wagered on NHL this year and now i know why i never bet this sport. i had an open parlay with a few to fill and for some reason tried to piggy back off of the guy on streak survivor going for 20 in a row and he chooses nashville. i then look up the NHL thread to see whats up with them, some guy posts this ridiculous stat on how the st louis coach has NEVER won in nashville since 2001 and how st louis goalie has NEVER won on the road this year vs western conference opponents. oh and the fact that nashville OWNS blues this year. i could not see the game obviously and had to watch NHL network and they didnt even do a live look in or nothing. i can only blame myself for betting on a sport i know very seldomly. maybe its a warning when EVERY SINGLE friggin person is on a team, u go the other way. but who in their right mind can ignore all those trends. who would have thought that tonight st louis coach, st louis goalie, and the team would all get their FIRST W'S at nash tonight? trends do not mean a god damn thing and yet i continue to treat them as they are god |

#3 Posted: 2/23/2012 11:03:28 PM just wish i could have watched the shootout. although looking at it, maybe i didn't. i got so excited when i saw they took a 2-1 lead, and within 30 seconds they gave up such a junk goal. dude cannot clear it, shoots it right into his own player, stl takes over and there are two defenseman pretty much screening the goalie and that's that. so gross. |

#7 Posted: 2/23/2012 11:07:02 PM THey said he was 72% in the shootouts this year. He just allowed 2 more goals bringing him below 70%. That is friggin terrible!
Next time I play Preds, its RL only! |

#8 Posted: 2/23/2012 11:08:13 PM Guy. I feel the same way.. I lose tonight instead hitting a 3 team par. It happens. I had these guys too, a couple of bounces and this game isnt even close in the Preds favor. After this game I had to root for my Hawks to bail me out, but was shafted by them coming out flat in the 3rd period as usual. |

#9 Posted: 2/23/2012 11:08:29 PM first shift after a goal at home..that was brutal and was essentially where the game turned. garbage happens though it's gambling...but yeah they screwed us all and it sucks. No way they should have lost this game. |

#11 Posted: 2/23/2012 11:10:17 PM i am a one and done with hockey. not sure how u all do it, looking at the scores tonight, this is fucked up. detroit blows a one goal lead TWICE in teh 3rd. loses. winnipeg is about to let a team come back from FOUR goals. chicago lets in 3 at home in the 3rd and calgary about to do the same up 2. good god man.
tonight just had to be the night that all those trends where STL is in teh ZERO win column in everything has to go the other way. the main reason i have to say is the guy going for 20 on streak survivor, NO BODY loses 20, if someone loses, they lose on their 21st going for the 25K. i have never seen this. all the trends in nash's favor, and this guy. not sure that sleep will be in the cards tonight |

#12 Posted: 2/23/2012 11:16:40 PM Well, I happened to watch the Knicks game and the line was -10 for Miami.
with one minute left Knicks are on a 2-1 and if they score the difference is 8. Instead, Anthony gets blocked and Heat fast break and score 2 easy points to make it by 12 and eventually finish by 14.
So how is hockey any different then other sports? |

#16 Posted: 2/23/2012 11:27:12 PM i could not get a single bet in hockey if i tried. im just shocked as hell i didnt go with detroit tonight since they have a record at home . but the line was so damn short and i could not for the life of me find out why. wasn't even a dime i do not think. i guess datsyuk IS that big a deal. and i do not fuk with NBA. as people have said, their product this year is so shady it is not even watchable. i hate to say it but, betting on kids for theNCAA hoops is where ive had my most winning so far. hot damn i miss football. |

#20 Posted: 2/24/2012 2:33:36 AM Joga tough luck. Probably not a good idea to wager on sports you dont follow. Tailing, same thing. If you are going to tail a hot capper go in for the long haul, don't do a "one-off" and cross your fingers. NSH was favoured for a reason but were not a lock. STL just lost at home to tthe B's, everyone seemed shocked by that too for some reason, so they come out next gm, get some luck and beat NSH, it happens.
I would never go into NBA forum see a guy with good record and decide to put my money on his pick without knowing the teams. Do you follow hockey at all? To me that game was close call, put StL on contest pick, just figured they would bounce back after home loss. Trends are useful but I don't base picks on trends. I put more importance on the very recent play of each club, offensive v. defensive stats, goalie matchup injuries and motivation.
If you put your money on a pick because you read a bunch of forum posts, there is only one person to blame, and it's not the hot capper who missed that night.
Best of luck dude and stay off the ice. |
