the majority of my BB use is for emails and texting so moving away from my phone's strength would be nuts for now

i may just get a galaxy tab to quench my android craving

So you're on Verizon.  Here's your choices:

Android
iPhone
Android
Android
Android
an older model Windows Phone 7 with no new one in sight
BlackBerry 9930 hidden in the corner
Android
Android
Android

And finally,

Android

I take it you've been strapped with your BB for years  -  and probably for good reason, like you said, for emails & texting.

Current BB users have been rockin' them for years & don't want to change because of their strength is set in stone with the familiarity of the product.

Galaxy Tablet would help you out if you're jones'in for some Droid lovey dovey time.

If you had thoughts of getting a iPad  -  I'd just tell you to get an iPhone.  But if you wanted to walk the BB and have some Droid action, then you already got the gameplan worked out and it sounds sweet.

the wife has the iphone 4s. she shops and plays WELDER and does the same on her ipad

i think i want to be more of a big boy and get a droid. im hoping samsung has an updated tab 10.1 with newer ICS then i'll jum p on board. problem is, whatever you buy is obsolete in 4 months. its crazy but fantastic just the same

ive had the BB since 06, curve then torch

All i know is that android battery life sucks. I'd rather go back to the original Motorola razor because you could leave that phone uncharged for 2-3 days and still have a half a battery left and u could talk for hours. If it wasnt for upgrades i definitely would still consider the razor phone.

I've been a Samsung Galaxy S2 owner for a couple of months and really like it.

Pros - Huge screen, open source apps/Android

Cons - Battery life, no qwerty keyboard

I'll admit, I miss my qwerty.  The battery life kinda sucks but that screen is HUGE and makes browsing and media really enjoyable.  Hell...  I was watching NFL Redzone from my phone over the holidays when I was on the road.

Unless yer tied to itunes or apple...  you won't regret the Samsung.
