#1 Posted: 7/18/2012 12:19:46 PM Before anybody thinks i'm trying to be a smartass i'm not. Take the statue and turn it the other way. As in Paterno turned the other way on the issue at hand. As i've said on here before Penn State should get the death penalty. They WON'T get the death penalty because the NCAA are a bunch of cowards who hide and don't have the balls to do it.
The NCAA will protect its brand and the big 10. Why i believe they should get the death penalty is this. When i was growing up i got in trouble and my mom would take away something important to me. TV,video games etc. To those people in State College what means the most to them is football. And it has to be taken away. In the Freeh Report it said Penn State needs to change their culture. Fans are apart of that too.
Before anybody plays the card that the players shouldn't have to pay for the sins of the past. I'll remind you of the line from the documentary about SMU on ESPN. The guilty got away, and the innocent suffered and suffered and suffered. Paterno's dead, Sandusky is in prison forever and will go to hell when he dies the vp and a.d are probably headed to jail. The victims lives destroyed. Nobody wins. There is no right answer.
Last year i stopped watching games that involved Penn state and i'll do that again this year. I don't need ESPN shoving what happened down my throat. NCAA do the right thing in 2013 shut the program down for 2 years. Fans need to sit home on saturday with no football and look in the mirror and find what's important. The 3rd and 5 in the 4th qtr doesn't mean that much. The NCAA has no guts. |

#2 Posted: 7/18/2012 12:51:29 PM i actually like the idea!
maybe turn the cheek to the side and put a football in the statue's view,
on the other side behind where his head is turned, put statues of several small children,
this will show that he turned to football and turned his back on kids and their welfare

#6 Posted: 7/18/2012 6:51:58 PM Here is a great idea!!!
Quit talking about the garbage.
Im sick of this topic and us, the media and football fans in general need to put this thing to bed.
Here is something most people haven't thought of tho....... If you want to take the statue down fine......Take the thing down. But also take down every library and every single thing Joe gave to education down with it. You cant have it both ways.... If you take the statue down, take everything else down and burn everything that JOE gave to that university. Everything!!
Whats really crazy about this whole situation is obviously all who knew or was involved......but the biggest thing!!!! Is why in hell wont the media give same amount of air time to the real Satanic Sick person Sandusky? The spend all their time talking about Joe and not half the time about the criminal.
Dont get me wrong. Joe knew some garbage and he needs to held accountable for that. Is he wrong? Of course.
I just think the media is in-love with the Joe PA part of this when they need to focus more on the sicko Sandusky.
That's all im saying about this........ I seriously dont want to talk about this subject ever again. I have kids myself and I tallier get sick to my stomach every time I see this garbage on TV or read about it.

#8 Posted: 7/18/2012 9:37:42 PM Boom Boom, with respect to you, i think you're missing the point completely,
paterno giving money to the school and them naming the library for him is one thing, but having a statue is altogether another,
when you get your name on a building, that is an amazing honor,
but statues should be reserved for people who in positions of leadership did not do something so egregious that it DESTROYED the lives of children more so than Paterno ever HELPED his kids who played football for him.
keeping a kid on track w/his grades and making sure he graduates is very important and honorable, but allowing so many kids to be SEXUALLY ABUSED and then turn your back on them to protect your football legacy is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
statues and 'names on buildings' are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS
THE FUKKING STATUE HAS TO GO

for one you are saying not to watch penn state football because you dont want it shoved down your throat but you are doing that here with this thread after this garbage finally slowed down on here
then you say penn state fans and students need to look in the mirror on saturdays and find whats important???? dude, they are not 7 years old in timeout, that is why jail is for guilty people and innocent people get to live in the free world
holy fock you are a communist or what... christ almighty
either that or you are under 13 years of age. |

#13 Posted: 7/19/2012 5:34:28 PM They should at the least move the statue to a location where it won't get people so fired up. Can you imagine how many fights will go down by the statue if they leave it where it is?......some visiting fan makes a remark about Joe or the school and a Pedo State homer punches him in the mouth.....or vice versa. As for the death penalty....I say no. A better solution would be a ticket tax (as proposed by Saban) or possibly taking all the football program's net revenue and using it to pay off the flood of upcoming lawsuits and even donating a sizable amount to charities that support abused children. |
