Roy is a great recruiter and usually has NBA talent but is in game coaching is questionable at best...which squad would you rather have, unc or duke?...UNC all day...but yet he continues to lose and do bone head things in game...even if his players doin bone head things its a reflection on the coach...Roy is a good coach but gets out coached alot of the times...this team might end up winning it all but i believe that it will be the players winning not the coach and these players dont have the drive to do it

quit making excuses on the reasons that UNC lost...duke made the shots and plays when they had to...who cares that zeller tipped it in (thats his goofy behind fault)..he had a chance to hit 2 free throws but couldnt hit but one...everone always likes to girl about how lucky duke was and the refs kept them in it but unc was at the line too and had chances to put the game away but didnt and duke couldnt hit a free throw in the last 10 minutes...in the last 7 plus minutes in the first half duke went without a field goal...dont forget that or does a carolina fan want to make an excuse for that too

you got beat..who cares...its not the end of the world

march 3rd they'll have their chance to go to cameron and steal one there...it prob will happen but like last night you never know

Roy is a great recruiter. Izzo would have rolled Duke with that talent.

great recruiter but his teams just don't play good defense... Obviously it's tough to win w/o talent but Roy has the more talent on that roster (outside of Kentucky) than anybody in the country almost every year... You could argue that his players really don't develop to high levels under Roy, I mean outside of Paul Pierce who's done WELL in the nba and played under Roy?? Just saying...

No way NC should've lost that game. The talent differential between the two this year is to great. How about a timeout when Duke was on the 8 point run at the end of the game. Every year NC has trouble guarding the 3 point line. How many time's did they go underneath the screen to leave a 3- point shooter wide open.

iceman67...do you not realize that Roy's biggest fault over the years has been not calling timeouts in critical situations?  In 2008 against Kansas in the final four, everybody in Chapel Hill is screaming at Roy to call a timeout when Kansas goes on that huge run in the first half.  Roy refused to call a timeout until we were down 20 and the game was out of reach.  I just thought the information about Roy not calling timeouts was pretty well known.

Don't overlook Tubby Smith. Worst offensive coach in NCAA.

Roy is like urban meyer.....only wins with talent and not good coaching.Great recruiters, but wouldn't win 55% of their games if they had to win with x's and o's.Just ask a kansas fan about roy! Duke stayed in the game and won it  because of coach K....period

Look at the talent level last night.  In all honesty, Carolina should have won that game by 8-10 points if you are going on pure talent level.  The difference between the two teams and the game was Coach K.  Coach K is a great coach and is the best coach in college basketball in my opinion. Every year he maximizes the talent he has on his squad.  I do not like the guy, but all Carolina fans and myself respect him.

Spot on, UNCSFINEST. When Roy was at KU, he repeatedly refused to call timeout's when the other team went on a run. It made no sense and seemed to be out of stubbornness (like LaRussa hitting the pitcher 8th all year until the playoffs). Then, he goes to UNC and gets to the title game, and KU goes up 40-12!!...before he uses a damn timeout. He must keep a jar full of unused timeouts on his mantle.

That being said, Scott drew is the worst I've seen in a long time. He is completely in over his head. He implements a zone that makes Jeff Withey look like Wilt Chamberlain.

I'm not trying to say you are incorrect by any means,,, but why do you say he was telling them to continue pushing it,, was that brought up on air, and I missed it?

Duke and Missoo can flat out shoot the lights out on any team. But do either have the size to win it?

espn just showed a graphic that unc was 0-0 if fg att in the final minutes of the collapse.  I don't even think Roy Williams even drew up a college basketball play!

Norfolk State 86, Mizzou 84.

Roy may have some faults, but doubt he would have choked against Norfolk State.

UNC up by 16 now.

I think Norfolk State down by 25 to UF

Train - Don't lose the credibility you earn picking nice upsets with terrible threads like this. You are smarter than that.

I wish more coaches coached like Roy Williams and let his players play! This is real basketball. Not that half court crap, pass it around and force up a shot at the end of the shot clock. Half court basketball and not pushing it up the court favors the defense. Why can't they see that like Roy can? And it's certainly more entertaining. But more importantly, it's successful.

Now South Florida is another animal. They are a snail, but a smart and efficient snail. And they play great D. Now watch them lose to Ohio after I give them props.

I guess when you hit prima donna status on covers, you hit a smartass response whenever you don't like someone's post.

Sorry train. You are awesome but your kind of a douche too

"worst coach" ??

maybe an overrated coach in terms of X's and O's,

but "worst coach" ??

no way.  that's IDIOTIC

you don't get to all those Elite 8's, Final 4's, runner ups, and championships, being "the worst coach".

unreal.  what a lame thread.

Anybody with an IQ above 20 could have taken those teams to the E8 and F4...

Guess that would exclude you. ..
