#3 Posted: 8/28/2012 2:53:24 AM After being on the wrong side of too many Tebow comebacks last season, I ended up backing him vs. Carolina, and I can see he has only gotten worse.
Looking at the Philly game, several things come to mind that make me want to POUND the Eagles.
First, one cannot attribute all of Denver's success to just Tebow. When he was playing with the starters for the Denver Broncos, he had better protection from his offensive line than he has with the Jets second team line (Wayne Hunter has been terrible in protection). Tebow is a run first QB, looking to tuck and run at the first sight of pressure, scrambling out of the pocket. Once this occurs, his mechanics break down and his ability to deliver the ball accurately to receivers decreases significantly. Secondly he is horrible at looking off secondary help, often times staring down his receivers the entire time. Finally, the offensive plays that he will be playing in this preseason, I think will be somewhat different than what he will be expected to do during the regular season when he will be in the Wildcat. The Jets do not want to run any Wildcat plays during the preseason.
Finally, Nick Foles is legit. Had heavy money on the Eagles vs. the Pats, and thought I was screwed once Vick went down and the Pats got up 11-0. The guy really impressed me leading the Eagles to a comeback win. I will take the better passer every time.
To put it simply, backing Tebow and these Jets, to be frank, when they are down by a TD, and wanting Tebow to lead a drive and score a TD for a win is like staring up at an insurmountable and is one of the most depressing feelings in the world. That is how I felt when DEREK ANDERSON scored a TD in the 2nd half of last week's preseason game to put the Jets down 17-12.
I will be laying the wood, or rather the whole goddamn forest, on the Eagles this Thursday. |
