#5 Posted: 11/30/2011 12:10:59 AM Bobby V Sorry Red Sox nation. Maybe he improved his managerial skills overseas but this is a REALLY STRANGE hire
Having Bobby V AND Buck Showalter here in TEXAS I wasn't very impressed with either of them. Similar style managers , unlikable pricks

#6 Posted: 11/30/2011 12:14:27 AM well one things for sure he will do a better job managing than he does as an announcer, wish he would bring orel as a pitching coach he's awful too on the air |

#7 Posted: 11/30/2011 5:58:09 AM Yankees and Rays fans should be ecstatic at this hiring. Valentine has a career 51% winning record (49% with the Rangers and 53% with the very talented Mets). And he won 1 lousy NL pennant in those 15 years. The Red Sox would have done much better rehiring Grady "Chicken" Little than this farce of a manager. Enjoy many years of mediocrity, Red Sox fans, as Francona was a GREAT manager.
I guess all you have to do is get air time on ESPN after being fired for ineptness, do a pathetic job analyzing Sunday night baseball, then you become a hot commodity again. |

As a fellow Red Sox fan I know how I feel....horrible move..when the Red Sox win we will hear from BV how smart he is and when they lose we will hear what the players did wrong...would have like to see them give Torey Lovullo a shot |

#12 Posted: 11/30/2011 1:21:29 PM What really sucks is that ESPN will be riding him all season for whatever success he has.
Glad I watch the MLB Network. |

I think it's because he's against the whole "Chicken and Beer" philosophy. |

#17 Posted: 12/1/2011 1:26:46 PM I really like Valentine because I like his made for TV personality but I dont think he's a good fit for the future of the Red Sox organization and if what I hear is true, their current players. Sooner rather than later they are going to expect Boston to win and that's just unfair because the coach-player chemistry isn't there. Also, if what i hear is correct, Valentine wasn't even in the running about a month ago so this points to really impulsive signing by the Red Sox. That's just my opinion. I will have to check back on this post in three years.
