So it really was 5 downs. Watch the video again you guys. Ignore the yellow first down line and look at the orange first down marker on the sidelines. It is CLEARLY on the 3 yard line meaning that where they spotted the ball, it was a first down. If you look close, you can also see that the actual line of scrimmage was on the 13 yard line and not on the 12 where FOX put the blue line. The lines put up there by FOX and the announcers are the reason for the confusion. The refs got this one right.

Even though the 1st-down at the 3 was a mis-mark, it's not necessarily a horrible thing. The Skins would have called the plays differently if they had not been given a 1st down at the 3. I don't think you can look at it as the Skins were given a 5th down. There's no conspiracy here. It was just a mistake. And imo not even a bad mistake. Yes, the game turned out to be near a push because of the TD, but not directly because of the mis-mark a few plays earlier.
