Ok He will starve for wins. All the eyes will be on the Phillies and Giants starters - don't kid yourself with Johnson. His best chance was last year, so let's be real here. The Marlins aren't making the post-season, and unlike the Mariners, Johnson was shutdown last year and will be again this year if it's even that kind of season again for him. Plus the Florida defense gets worse. Terrible bet at anything lower than +2000

Halladay will get votes,Lee will get votes,Hamels will get votes thus stealing (for the lack of a better word) votes from each other. Same goes for Lincecum and Cain. This happened with Wainwright and Carpenter 2 years asgo. Johnson has a legitimate chance, just don't dismiss him because his team sucks! Just saying.

He didn't even sniff votes last year with his outstanding season! It's all about the wins in the NL and when you got any of those aces on the Phillies and Giants picking up wins most of the time they start, it's unlikely Johnson can not only match the wins, but match last season's blistering form he had.

It is foolish to just say he can't win the cy young. He has shutout potential every time he takes the mound! He is only 27 years old. That is the ripe age most major leaguers peak. I don't bet on "prop bets", but I certainly would not tell anyone it is dumb to bet on Johnson for Cy Young.

I dont think you realize just how good johnson is. 20/1 odds that would be a steal. Johnson was lights out last year and is only going to get better. Guy is 6-7 with the nastiest stuff around

Prospect Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 466 Location: New Jersey	#12 Posted: 3/4/2011 6:53:15 PM i'd like to know what the odds on cole hamels will be because i'd take him. depressed-- have you not realized that the cy young has nothing to do with wins in recent years (Grienke, Felix)...with all these new pitching stats and sabermetrics and for that matter common sense...baseball voters have realize that wins is almost irrelevant next to era, whip and the rest of em... to me it sounds like your'e saying if a guy goes 30 starts with a 1.20 era but his record is only 12-11 he won't get votes? FOOLISH

I think the Brewers could be contenders for the Central and Greinke should benefit from moving to the NL. It's worth a shot if the price is right. Lester could be a solid bet too if the odds are attractive enough.

Ubaldo Halladay Oswalt Lee Hamels Lincecum Cain Kershaw Latos Carpenter Greinke Plus, there are always a few guys that breakout. 20-1 would be good odds on Johnson, but there are always a lot of juice on these types of bets, and I don't think you get more than 12-1.
