uhhh.....SC will not get blown out at home......the overall talent gap has been closed between these teams over the last several years...maybe you've heard the names Taylor, Clowney, Lattimore
recent history suggests this will be tight, low scoring game....i'd lean Under |

#10 Posted: 10/1/2012 10:24:50 PM this game is has a strong chance of going under...........this is exactly the type of game where UGA gets tight around the collar and go conservative.
Spurrier has smartly become pretty conservative as well as he has realized that suits his recent teams better that way . look for a good ole' fashion SEC rock em sock em type of game |

#12 Posted: 10/2/2012 12:14:46 AM I like SC in this one...night game...at home. This is the best defense UGA has seen so far. SC's defense has held opponents to 20 pts or less in 9 straight games. Plus Murray can be careless with the ball and UGA's RB's are both true freshman. UT exposed UGA's defense last week. Granted SC doesnt have the playmakers at WR that UT does, but Spurrier hasn't forgotten how to design a passing attack. UNDER 57 seems like a good bet as well. |

I'm not buying the fact that UT exposed UGA's defense last week. Tennessee scored 44 points yes, but they scored 20 of those points off of two red zone turnovers and a pick 6. That leaves UT with 24 points off of long/actual drives. I think that's pretty good considering the UT offense is very explosive. I do agree that it was scary to see how much success Tennessee had running the ball. I'm not sure why this was, but I did think UT did a good job blocking upfront and they have a better OL than USC. Another factor could be that it was ILB Alec Ogletree's first game back from suspension.
Despite the points, I did see a few bright spots for the UGA defense. One is that they held the top NFL WR prospect, Justin Hunter, to 3 receptions for 46 yards and no TDs. Hunter came into the game averaging over 100 yards per game, and UGA did a great job in coverage to limit his role in the game. Another bright spot is how UGA's defense made plays when it mattered. They forced 2 INTs at the end of the game to seal the victory when the offense stalled.
The bottom line is that UGA played a very sloppy game, which I'm glad they got out of the way. If I know Grantham like I think I do, he will hammer the defense this week to correct their errors.
I think this game will ultimately come down to three things: 1) How the UGA Front 7 handles Marcus Lattimore in the 2nd half. 2) How much pressure the USC DEs put on Aaron Murray. 3) Which team wins the turnover battle.

I agree with you here. Look at how conservative Richt played against Mizzou earlier this year too. I think both teams will pound the ball early with mild to low success as I think both teams have great Front 7s. Maybe a 1st half under, 2nd half over. |

USC has had an impressive run within their division. Maybe it will come to an end, they are still a short favorite over a really good Georgia team, so we'll see |

#20 Posted: 10/2/2012 11:00:32 PM rr i think the Gamecocks win by 2 scores. GA is the biggest fraud in the country Last yr didn't have to play top 3 teams out of sec west. This yr they don't play Phil Steele's top 5 teams out of the west! They've had easy schedules and when they face a team who can punch them in the mouth they shrink. GA has given up 100 yds rushing in every game this yr now they face Marcus Lattimore?
They gave up 23 to Buffalo! 20 to Missouri and if Mizzou could execute the shotgun snap they would've beat them. Hell Mizzou was up 17-9. FAU who some projected to be the worst team in the country scored 20.! The most pts the gamecocks have given up in a game was 17 last week. I know GA can score but the gamecocks have imo the best defense in the SEC. I know the Dawgs have speedy runners but with the speed sc has defense they'll be neutralized. I see a 2 score win for the gamecocks.
BOL rr thats my 2 cents

Good point about their schedule because they have played some of he weaker SEC opponents, but at least they won them. Now they have to play a contender with a little more on the line.

#22 Posted: 10/2/2012 11:18:27 PM I also brought up Stafford because he had some memorable wins against quality opponents on the road. Murray hasn't had that signature win yet. Last year they were favorites on the road and won, but the last three times they were road dogs they lost. They are dogs again, and you wonder if Murray and Richt win this one on the road. |
