Whats the old addage...Defense wins championships? Well, we are about to find out if that still holds true in today's era. Balty is no defensive juggernot by any stretch but they are a damn sight better than the Pats. Balty has only given up 14 ppg over their last 7 contest. The problem for me here is they only faced one decent offense in San Diego who rang up 34 on them.The Patties D on the other hand has given up a little more than 21 ppg over their last 7 but the good thing for us Balty backers is the fact that over those 7 this NE defense only faced one decent offense in Philadelphia which for some reason only put up 20. In the last 3 contest on this field NE has managed to beat Balty by no more than 6 points and lost one game su. Balty must run the ball today for obvious reasons and I think they can against this defense. This one is tough but I'll take the 7 and hope NE improves on their horrible 1-6 ats playoff run.

10 years ago and beyond, yes, defense won championships. It's clear to see that is no longer accurate in the NFL. With the league favoring the offense, and the "new" breed of qb's along with a pass happy league, defense is no longer what it used to be.
Oh course, this is just my amateur opinion.
