Petron is good offensively but worst defensively! That's what is bad in an offensive team! Thanks ROS!

(Good start last Sunday with the over185.5 for the Ginebra/Global game. I think they hit that mark with 3-5 minutes left in the 4th. I had little play on the Ginebra spread too, but didn't post it here for I was not as confident with the play. Good thing both hit.)

AIR21/BARAKO BULL 195-OVER

-I just saw that the under bet on this game is closed on MSW, probably because majority is pounding it. The under was my first lean actually, but after looking at Air21's new roster, seeing that they got a bunch of scorers (Canaleta, Custodio, Wilson), added to their go-to-guys Ritualo and Arboleda, this team will be running and gunning and running and gunning. They will try to score as much as they can, and hope that they score more than their opponent. Barako, while losing Miller in the off season, is a team that welcomes offensive games. They used to be shoot-a-lot-of-3s kind of a team, and with the departure of Miller, who likes to walk the ball a lot, I say they will run as well, especially with Urbiztondo taking the PG chores.

AIR21+5.5
-I like them in this situation, wherein they will face a not so strong of a team as their first assignment. This team went 0-14 last All-Filipino Conference, and that was reasonable because they had 0 firepower then. Now, they added depth and scorers on their wing rotation, so they won't have to rely on Ritualo alone. It may be a long shot for them to actually get a victory because they have no legit closer during crunchtime, but I feel they will keep this game close.

PETRON/RAIN OR SHINE 186.5-OVER

-Yeah I guess I am testing if all teams will be coming out shooting on all cylinders just like in the Ginebra-Global Port game. I will just have to take into consideration that Petron has a new coach, one who isn't really a defensive oriented, a very good PG during his prime. I expect Petron to move the ball a bit better, not relying on 1 man to score (J. Wash), go for quick fastbreaks, and get a ton of offensive rebounds because of their advantage in height. RoS on the other hand, drafted a very good PG/SG combo (Tiu), one who can fill the shoes of Paul Lee should he not play today. They will keep on jocking up the long balls as usual, run and gun, and foul a lot. I just hope Petron will make the most of those freethrows.

*Again I am using MSW lines here.*

2-1 today. Not half bad. I'll take that lucky over 186.5 hit in the Petron game anytime.

If only Petron converted on their freethrows, it would've been a different result.Down by 3 with about 7 minutes to go, 80-77, Danny Ildefonso troops to the line for 2 shots, missed both. Rain or Shine went berserk afterwards.

Give Fajardo 2-3 more games. RoS was bad for him. They have the toughest front court and can physically wore you down. He'd shine against teams that lacks real post game like Meralco, Air21, Barako and probably even Ginebra.

Cmm is right.. Just give him and mallari some time.. They are really talented.. As what rajko said after d game last time, fajardo lacks exposure as he only played "real basketball" last nyt...

Those teams aren't playoff bound except for Ginebra. How will Fajardo fare with the likes of TNT, RoS, SMC? Actually Ginebra still lacks size but they are probably the best in terms of athleticism and that's another disadvantage to a 6'9" post player.

Petron needs to give up 1 superstar in their roster (J Wash), and once they do that, I feel they will become a much better selfless team.

YTD 3-1
Sides: 1-0
Totals: 2-1

Not bad last Wednesday. Hit the over in Petron/RoS game, because Joseph Yeo decided to make a lay-up with about 8 seconds to go. Air 21 kept the game close to cover the handicap, but failed to score when they needed so my over bet hit the floor.

On to today's games, and again, I will be using MSW lines.

TNT-4.5
-So Meralco's biggest acquisition in the off season was Ronjay Buenafe, another wing player who is a ballhog and shoots a lot of 3s. I guess they are not contented with having 3 ballhogs out there (Cardona, Mercado, Macapagal). And their biggest loss? No more Asi T. So this once tough, physical team had been reduced to bits, and their height/strength down low is history. TnT failed to reach the finals last conference after 5 consecutive appearances, and that is a good thing for this banged up team. Majority of the players are well rested, except for those who played for the National Team (Fonacier, de Ocampo, Dillinger). Well it doesn't really matter because there's but 1 player that I needed to step up today and that is Jason Castro. Add to the fact that the other players are well rested, TnT will start this season with a bang and defend their All-Filipino title.

TNT/MERALCO 187.5-UNDER
-So who's going to score for Meralco once their Mercado-Cardona tandem gets shut down? Although this team is one of (if not) the best in transition points last year, a big factor when doing that quick attack is by getting the defensive rebound. Without Taulava, Meralco will most likely do the team-rebounding style, wherein their bigmen will box out, and their guards to get the rebounds. That will reduce the opportunity of quick points, and will result to a slower tempo game. They will also need to take and make a lot of 3s because they have no post player which will be double-teamed. It will always be pick-and-roll, with Mercado shooting a jumpshot (99% brick) or driving to the basket for a layup (50% brick) or kickout to 3s. TnT thrives in whatever kind of game (fast or slow) so they don't really care. They just want to score more than the opponent.

ALASKA/SANMIG 180.5-UNDER

-The Aces had faced their former coach 4 times last year, 3 of which failed to reach 170. One game went to OT, and had a total of 181 (73-all during regulation). They lose LA but replaced him with spunky JV Casio. He's the only one who is my concern on the under because for sure he will try to push the ball a lot, unlike LA's walk-the-ball style of play. They also get Hontiveros who is a deadly shooter when he's on. SanMig didn't really make any huge change except for losing Josh Urbiztondo, who happens to be their starting (best) PG. He can make 3s, push the ball, and be energetic. Those are 3 factors the other 3 PGs (Barroca/Villanueva/Pacana) don't have, and you expect SanMig to score in the 90s? Don't be surprised if the game is played really slow, with the total in the 160s.
