your list of child molesters include joe paterno, urban myer, luke fickell, coach k, phil knight, kirk ferentz, mike ditka, lloyd carr, kirk herbstreit, lou holtz, nick saban, lavelle edwards, brent musberger, any former penn state player, any paterno family member, myself and any others who believe paterno did more than nothing and was pushed out by the media just to name a few. your theory is crumbling to pieces as you are just one of a few who has not done their research in the matter and were mislead by media reports and overreaction from the penn state "trustees"
I am not taking sides one way or the other anymore because it is pointless. I think that we will know much more one way or the other once the trial starts.
But to think that any person's opinion should be swayed because of the comments of some people you listed above is silly.

You are trying to quote Phil Knight to prove your point? A guy who makes tons of money from the abuse of children supports JoePa, and that somehow proves your point? You are proud to stand with a guy who makes billions because six year old Guatemalan children work sixteen hour days to build his shitty shoes?
If JoePa just called the police, and made sure that Sanudsky was stopped from raping boys in the locker room, I would be saluting JoePa today. That wasn't the case. He covered it up to protect his legacy. He called the AD, and together, they swept it under the rug. That makes him a terrible person. It doesn't matter how many people's lives he made better. Hundreds of boys' lives were ruined because he kept his mouth shut. It doesn't matter if ten million people show up to support him. Wrong is wrong. Anybody who supports this guy is wrong. I can only assume that you don't have children of your own. If you do, those children should be taken from you, and given to someone who doesn't think that winning football games is more important than stopping child rape.
If ThisguyISNTwise helped 99 old ladies across the street, but on the 100th time, he pushed the lady down and stole her purse, how would he be remembered? He would be remembered as a monster who pushed down an old lady and stole her purse.
You guys want it both ways. You claim he was just a coach who didn't know anything, and was powerless to stop it, but for three days he is being worshiped like the king just died. He could have stopped this, if he wanted to. He was the King of State College. He could have stopped it if he was a good person. Football was more important than stopping his DC from raping boys.
ThisguyISNTwise, you really should stop posting. With each subsequent post, you are showing yourself to be more ignorant than the last. You don't even understand what a theory is. A theory is a premise based on facts. A conjecture is merely and an opinion, and open to discussion. Everything that I have said is a fact. A fact that you could learn if you read the grand jury reports. A fact you could learn if you wanted to see the truth. A fact you could learn, if you hadn't elevated this fraud to such a pedestal, thus making your lifelong worship of a false idol a colossal mistake.
Here is a link to the grand jury reports. JoePa allowed all of this to happen. Your hero, this man you support today, allowed these things to happen, because he wanted to keep winning football games.

#65 Posted: 1/29/2012 11:39:43 AM So what all you Joe Pa supporters are basically saying is that when Sandusky was investigated in 1998 that Joe Pa was clueless as to why he was investigated?? i call bullhit on that. Then when Sandusky was let go in 1999 that was just coincidence? Joe Pa knew something was amiss. However Sandusky was still bringing young boys to campus for many many years. He was even on campus up until this whole story broke out. But somehow Joe Pa couldn't do anything about it? He couldn't have done more? Keep dreaming- Even he admitted he wished he would have done more. That came from his mouth. He admitted it. What more do you fanboys need? Yes he helping hundreds of kids or even thousands. He did many great things in his life. But his inactions in this case will forever tarnish his legacy. |

#66 Posted: 1/29/2012 5:53:40 PM how dense can you be? the police investigated sandusky in 1998, and joe fired him. the police did not find enough cause to arrest sandusky....you think joe paterno has the right then to arrest him or smear his name across campus he "might" be a child molester...oh really joe, how do you know...well he was alleged to have molested a kid or two or three..did you see this joe? no i hear about it...do the police know joe? yes did the police arrest him after investigating joe? well, no...then why are you smearing his great name (at the time) as being a child molester? well i guess now i will get sued along with the university for defamation of character.
are you that stupid? so joe let him go, and over and over again which you cannot comprehend is the administrators, prez, ad, board of trustees, gave sandusky emeritus status allowing him to use facilities as part of his severance package. joe paterno has no right or power over these people..the same people who fired him...so when paterno did see him at campus he asks the AD what the hell jerry boy is doing around...and the AD tells him "we got it handled joe, its an administrative matter now. Seeing as Sandusky is no longer his coach and tampering with him may have caused Joe or the university to be sued, because where i am from you cannot defame a mans name without being sued, he figured his world class president, chief of police and AD had it under control.
Thats where he was wrong.
Unless you are aware of facts, you really dont know what the hell you are talking about other than ranting lunatics with conspiracy theories and that joe paterno watched kids being raped in his showers, which is indeed the most short sighted, uneducated assumption anyone can make. |

Did i ever say Joe watched kids being raped?- Nope, not even close. How dense can you be- Joe agreed to give Sandusky emeritus status- if Joe would have objected then he wouldn't have been given the keys to the football facilities- PERIOD- If you are too dense to realize this, then you are blind- Lots of people are at fault, not just Joe- I realize that- however Joe is the only one being defended over and over- So if Joe fired Sandusky(officially he retired) for being a pedophile then why did Joe keep giving tons of money to this pedofile's foundation? Answer me that one? You don't have a good answer because somehow you will say it was good enough that he supposedly fired Sandusky but then turned a blind eye towards Sandusky thinking that was good enough- It was not good enough and more boys were abused because of his lack on inaction. That is the truth. |

blow, i wont classify you as being nearly as bad as the others on here, in fact i respect your thoughtfulness and ability to disagree logically...to a degree...but i just want to make a few more points about what you are saying and i will put this to rest..
1. he did not turn a blind eye, he reported what he heard, as the DA has stated. he did not try to cover up anything, he went to his superiors, yes he had superiors. why did he donate money after sandusky left to second mile? did he? i am not aware that he did and even if he did, the sole purpose obviously was to help young children in need of the money. i suppose you think he was donating for sandusky to feed his fancy, like he knew what he was doing, cmon. A man with his credentials, with 17 grand children? the guy donated to more foundations than any coach in the history of sports and he even donated 200,000 to the very university after he was fired and humiliated by that university in the most disrespectful way possible.
2. joe paterno was fired by the same board of trustees that granted jerry sandusky emeritus status. He was also threatened numerous times by the AD and president to retire. Lucky for Joe, or no luck considering he was a great coach, his 2005 team won the orange bowl with a one loss season. otherwise he was gone. joe paterno could not disallow jerry sandusky emeritus status no matter what he said, and that is not a fight he was willing to take to anyway. simply because a. sandusky was no longer an employee of his b. sandusky was investigated by police and found to have done no wrong doing, at least enough to get arrested. now if i have an employee, which i have about 10, who is accused of this and police investigate it and find nothing i doubt i even fire the guy. then if i do, like joe did!!, and my bosses give him a retirement package that allows him to come to the facilities and workout, i would ask what this is all about. if my bosses tell me they have it handled, butt out, thats what i do. the notion that joe paterno ran that university is untrue, he basically built that university, but still was at the mercy of the AD, president, and as we all know and most importantly, the Board of Trustees. IF he ran that university, he would have finished out the season.
3. Joe Paterno has nothing to do with approving emeritus status, NOTHING! The senate has to prove that along with the school president and administrators ie BOT...despite all his greatness and tenure, Joe Paterno was employed only as a football coach, period.
4. Joe Paternos comment "in hindsight, i wish i had done more" is not an admittance of guilt by any stretch of the imagination. That comment can be interpreted in many different ways and you know that, you seem educated. How many people would say in hindsight they wish they did more about this situation and many others in life. I could say the same thing about many instances of my life that have transpired. People dont understand this is why lawyers took over, because in this day and age you have to twist words so they sound 100percent innocent. Joe said this as an 85 year old man with lung cancer who was just being honest. And it still is not incriminating unless the media or others who had preconceived notions feel it is. If you dont think he would have done something if he knew for 100percent fact that Jerry was doing this, you just dont get it and never will.
All of the truths will come out, you may not care or want to hear that, but i promise you if they do, joe will be vilified for those that are objective.

Good points and i can respect your opinion as well. I am not saying Joe Pa donated money to help Sandusky do what he did. Not at all. As I said before, i realize he has done many great things and helped many kids himself. I do know that he does act like he knows less than he does when concerning matters of his football team. When ESPN asked him about all the athletes that have been arrested over the last several years(it was on a special- ESPN show)- 46 players from 2002-2006 who had been arrested- he told ESPN and i quote "I don't know anything about that" Now come on- do you really believe that? Yes all universities have this problem and do the same thing- However Penn St. football players led the nation during this time with 46 arrest that accounted for over 163 criminal charges. One of two things happened in this situation. He either turned a blind eye or because of his age and those around him who really ran the football program did their best to hide this stuff from him. My best friend has worked in that part of the country for years and their have been rumors that he was just a figurehead and didn't do much actual coaching at all the last 5-10 years. Who knows the truth? However he also said that there have been rumors that something inappropriate happened between a kid and Sandusky. Again that's just heresay. So Paterno can fire Sandusky for such a thing but can't do anything else to keep Sandusky from bringing kids around the campus? One thing is for certain- their was a coverup and i think the others involved are more to blame than Joe Paterno. However Joe Paterno is not completely innocent. He could have done more. He said so himself. The others involved are even more to blame and should be criminally charged. I can see them trying to hide as much as they could from Joe, but Joe was a smart guy and had to know something was amiss. The whole situation is just tragic and hopefully lots more will be known once the trial begins.
Thisguy-
I'll put this issue to rest as well- i tried to be objective as i was always a Paterno fan. I think those that say he was an enabler and all that other bullshit is wrong. I just lean on the side who say he was not 100% innocent as well. Time will only tell.I do know the others have a lot of explaining to do and may they get what they deserve. Joe has already paid the ultimate price.
I didn't mean to sound disrespectful to you it's just others that can't argue objectively and resort to name calling really get my blood boiling. This whole tragedy is more important than any football legacy and some can't see that. Anyway, good discussion and your points are well taken.

Looks like your boy Phil Knight just removed the Paterno name from the child care center. Why was that?

Most of you are idiots and its quite sad. I love when people say "Joe Pa was in charge of Pennsylvania." Or.." Joe Pa was the Don of Penn State, he could had done anything."
What exactly does that mean? What more was he suppsoed to do? I mean, the guy was so friggin powerful...he clearly could have ordered a lightning bolt to come from the sky and hit Jerry Sandusky right? I mean..the guy was the President of Pennsylvania..he could have just ordered his own swat team to take out Jerry.
You guys have all the answers.
Telling the AD and President of the school as well as the man in charge of the police is more then enough.
Joe Paterno did what he was supposed to do. He is a legend and he built Penn State.
