you said a mouthful... let's break it down!
first statement... i can make the reverse argument... the "angle" you are referring to helps Baltimore if we don't have the extra week off... Baltimore is riding a wave... adding an extra week can only disrupt that high... SF has been a team of stability all year, while Baltimore has been a team of volatility... this extra week is not a variable you want introduced when they are on their best run of the season...
last part... well, by throwing in "and what teams did in the playoffs" you have effectively destroyed your own point... you were trying to argue that this line is based on everything BUT what teams did in the playoffs... if it's based on what teams did in the playoffs, the Ravens could easily be favored in this game... certainly shouldn't be getting more than a FG... but if you don't include that statement, then this line might be justified, but earlier games in these playoffs wouldn't make much sense... like Seattle getting only 1.5 pts at the #1 seeded Falcons, off the top of my head... reality is, the books factor in EVERYTHING... far more than you do... and there's not much more that needs to be said, in terms of line-reading, than that!

#228 Posted: 2/2/2013 6:29:40 PM I think this game will be close.. FG will be a factor.. Do you think Akers will be perfect or miss a few? If he starts to miss a few do you think the niners will lose faith and go for it on 4th and short.? I'll take the points and think this game will come down to a FG. Both teams can come back from behind and once ahead I see them being on running attack mode more conservative. Both teams have great rb. Niners defense did give up some points in the playoffs.. Experience goes to ravens and think kaep will have a few turnovers. Game of his life has to be some what nervous.. 11 weeks ago he was a bench warmer.. 2 of the 4 losses the niners had were in a dome.. Minny and St. Louis.. I'd take the points and small bet on money line.. |

Niners played in a dome 2 weeks ago on the road. Balti been bustin theres a$$es on defense 3 weeks straight in cold weather. Cold weather gives an advantage to the more physical team (niners at ne) but it also takes a huge toll on their bodies (peyton has a horrible record when the temp is under 20 degrees yet baltimore escaped wit a hail mary and a peyton mistake) |

Kroger and T Sizzle will be Colin's dates for the night. Bouldin is too physical fro 49ers defense to contain and Torey Smith is too fast.

#233 Posted: 2/2/2013 8:37:02 PM apoc , what i meant mainly in saying you could play the ravens luck to run out was mainly in ref to them having to play 3 games and the 4th would be a crap out ... rolls >> 7 , 7 , 7 , on the 4th roll .. it being so physical and all .. the 2 week interval cancels that out .. trying to argue that they could roll 4 four times in a row in the nfl might be a stretch .. compared to canceling it out altogether .. no way we can try and say they were hot so now they will be cold .. would be kinda naive i think .. given all things considered with this particular battle tested balt squad ..
balt played 3 to get here and sf played 2 .. you can call heads 4 times in a row but calling it 3 times in a row your stats would go up .. 4 times i na row , then 5 .. odds you can pull it off go down in succession with each flip/game .. dont mean to compare to coin flips .. but is simple math .. cant argue #s .. 4 in a row and given the level of comp .. this time off served the ravens very nicely .. if they had to play 4 games in a row like that . kap probably would have torn the a new one .. |

#234 Posted: 2/2/2013 8:44:12 PM words gettin microwaved again .... IF THE RAVENS HAD TO PLAY 7 DAYS LATER AFTER THEY BEAT THE PATS IN NEW ENGLAND ( ) THEY WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY CRAPPED OUT .. RUN WOULD HAVE ENDED ... INSTEAD THEY GET TO PREPARE AND REST .. GET IT ? it is very simple .. sf road , they only had to play 2 games and would have crunched balty and how .. but the 2 weeks layoff is indeed a diamond in the rough for the battered ravens to prepare and come fully charged .. k ? ty |

#235 Posted: 2/2/2013 9:07:51 PM battered ? meaning jetlagged still and gloried out 7 days later and banged up on a high to high .. now they have recovered from the dusty party and will be fully prepared and even keel .. sf has this same advantage ? .. no doubt they do .. unedited off the press content >> Wifey says kap looks like he is just having fun out there .. ooh no ! lol and that flacc just looks... and i couldnt even make out the word .. if that is true it could be a fav winner ? funny is yet another fu combo vs u/o combo |

#237 Posted: 2/2/2013 9:36:33 PM SF beat Atl.and GB. Balt. beat Indy, Den AND NE.I'm no longer convinced SF is the best team.Plus you'de be getting points. The recent playoff history has been that the lower seeds win the big one.I guess i'm going with the Ravens.Tough for a Pittsburgh guy.

By the way, both teams should be using Away stats. Not just one team. |

#239 Posted: 2/2/2013 10:26:18 PM Can't shine a flashlight between them. I'm taking the Ravens only because of Special Teams. Their kicker is money and the niners kicker has been shaky at best.
Crunch time...I'll take the better FG kicker. Ravens +4 |

49ers will have the ravens defense on the run most of the day don't see Ray Lewis and the boys keeping up in this one they got lucky against Peyton and his tired arm and no Moreno in the 2nd half. Caught Tom Brady on a day that he was not so terrific. Flaco will come back to earth and the Ravens will be exposed for we thought they were an over achieving team with an empty tank playing on fumes |

#245 Posted: 2/3/2013 12:56:08 AM Who cares about the superbowl? The game that mattered was last week and the NFC laid a beat down. I'll spend my time handicapping the next football game of significance...... Grey Cup time!!!!! |

LOL! Half the posters in this thread are “moles” for the books attempting to sway Covers members the wrong way…
With the spread up from 3.5 to 4 and the Moneyline +165, Stevie Wonder can see what side the Wise Men in Vegas want you on…
