#51 Posted: 10/2/2012 2:45:38 PM This is the first good defense UF has played this year and the QB for UF will implode. He will show this week what a huge liability he is for UF. Go back and watch the game against UK and see some of the passes he threw into coverage that he thought he could complete. Totally different situation this week. LSU defense will make this no contest for UF.

#53 Posted: 10/2/2012 3:30:00 PM This "sandbagging" idea is strange. What is the advantage of that? Do they think they can sneak up on teams when they began as highly rated as they were? Do you remember when you played ball and your coach would get on you if you dogged it in practice, saying "You only play as hard as you practice." The same is true of games. If you cruise along game after game putting in less than total effort, you are not going to be able to suddenly "turn it on" and execute with the precision you need just because your press clippings say you have great athletes. A lot of money has been lost by people waiting for USC to live up to their pre-season hype.
Sure, LSU could win, but elite? National championship caliber? Not yet! |

#54 Posted: 10/2/2012 3:32:32 PM Driskell>Mettenberger.. there is a reason Driskell was the no1 player in the nation coming out of high school.. Pease will figure out a way to move the ball on Chavis' D.. UF kicker is very good

#55 Posted: 10/2/2012 4:17:38 PM LSU will probably play field position and run the ball all night. UF won't be able to stop the run. LSU won 13 games last year with a worse QB system albeit the line was better. Neither team has played anybody but UF playing the 35, 39, 64, and 81st ranked defenses doesnt prepare you for LSU.
Should be a tight game but wouldn't be surprised if either team won. |

Now is LSU they same as last year no but LSU has been vanilla on purpose and will dominate the trenches vs Florida. If texas a&m or tenn had any athletes on defense which could stop Florida from big plays both would have won. There will be no 80yrd runs or #8 end arounds on LSU..Driskell will have 3 ints 24-10 LSU
Hold on, did you say UF's offense was better last year? |

The thing that is good for Florida in this game is that they finally aren't playing a team that spreads it out all game.. They have been forced to play nickel all season because of it, they will be in a lot of 5-2 sets making sure that LSU won't run the ball well out of their traditional style offense. I just honestly don't see either team having success on offense in this game. |

#59 Posted: 10/2/2012 4:55:37 PM its seems like the LSU backers are just completely ignoring the last 2 games using the excuse that LSU wasn't motivated. be careful with that. i think mettenberger is an issue and you'll see it again on saturday. i'm siding with FLA and probably the under.
both coaches are going to play this close to vest, only way this goes over is if there are defensive/special teams TD's.

#61 Posted: 10/2/2012 5:07:07 PM Auburn - played first road game. Game shouldn't have been that close, but they out gained AU 2-1. Fumbles Towson - if you can't qualify this as a look ahead game to some degree you're blind. Uncharacteristic fumbles from the backs, 4 I believe |

#62 Posted: 10/2/2012 5:13:34 PM usually in football, you are what you are...
if you have a problem hanging on to the football against Towson and Auburn, it will proably rear its ugly head again. Also, is sounds like LSU's offensive line is a work in progress. Injury to Faulk hurts.

#63 Posted: 10/2/2012 5:30:53 PM Winning it what they do, so if that's who they are then fine. There are a few teams that wish they had ugly wins credited to their resume.
I guess you can the completely discount the dismantling of Washington. |

#64 Posted: 10/2/2012 10:07:06 PM I see many posters in this thread making QB comparisons. I don't believe either Miles or Muschamp is going to put this game in their QB's hands. Avoiding turnovers will be a prime consideration here. Both of these teams will pound the rock and play field position, and LSU is built to play precisely that kind of football. If this game turns into a field goal war, Caleb Sturgis is a potent weapon. Ultimately I see LSU's defense taking over this game. LSU wins 20-17.

agree with your analysis except for the winner. LSU is showing cracks in the armor and it will catch up to them this week. i love the under here.

#66 Posted: 10/2/2012 11:21:05 PM The entire discussion on this game is moot. There are FAR better games to place your money on than this one. This could go EITHER way. Both teams are good enough to beat the other, it just depends on who has the better day.

#67 Posted: 10/3/2012 12:48:48 AM This LSU bunch is nowhere near what they were last year. Faulk is one of the best linemen in the SEC and his injury has taken a huge toll on their offense. They may be able to fix this issue but using a makeshift offensive line against this Florida defense is troubling. Muschamp may not be the best head coach in the SEC but he sure does know how to coach em up. So far this defense has held two potent TENN and TX A&M offenses to 20 and 17 points respectively. What makes anyone think Mettenberger is going to outperform Bray or Manziel. UF held Texas A & M to 0 pts in the 2nd half. The UF defense will be the only elite group in this game. LSU D is not the same without their playmaker. They are still a stout group but not what they were last year which was beyond elite. UF CLEARLY has the edge on D and O because of Pease and Gillislee.
Best bet on this game is the UNDER but I feel as if UF will cover as well in an ugly game....get it before it crosses the key number. of 44

Florida didn't have HALF the depth the last 3 years as they do now on defense.. If you don't notice how different they have have looked then you haven't been watching or are wishfully thinking they will be pushed around and back down. They hung with Bama and LSU's run game fine in the first halves of both games last year and guess why it didn't last in the 2nd half? Depth AND inexperience. As for Copeland, he will not start so there is no telling how healthy he is which is a huge hit for LSU. |
