I use to frequent the Palms often during the past, acquire their comps for when family/friends visit, but I went today, and completely forgot that it'll no longer happen. They continue to send me a comp card by mail every three months indicating special rates and comp rooms w/ VIP passes to their clubs. However, no more swiping in the players card. I was told that I should consider signing up for the program you can use on your phone or other sources.

On the other hand, I love the new look, it keeps the scum out that would be there just to drink off a $1 race ticket, so I found it to be impressive. The negative is that leaves little room for people to watch the games at their book, mainly invite sections, and the poker room has been integrated with the book.

I walked over to the Palms to try and play some NLHE at like 8am on a Friday...lmao they only had like 1 4-8 LIMIT table going full of like 60 year olds. (I was on east coast time so that's why I was up so early) so needless to say I didn't end up playing there...but I also didnt like how the poker room was basically in the sports book. But the guy at the poker front desk was nice enough to offer to text me when a 1-2 or 1-3 NL game started up (dont remember which). Seemed like a pretty classy place...but that was the only time I wandered over to the Palms. Although I did hear some incredibly loud music coming from what I am guessing was the pool area on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon....debated on going to check it out but hit the poker room at the Rio instead.

First off guys, Cantor Gaming now runs the Palms book (and also its first poker room...a trial to see if they can do this). Probably not since they have changed their corporate name to Cantor Race and Sportsbook. But that should answer your comp questions...although play a few dimes a day on the ponies and they can be nice to you with some goodies

As to the "Pool Noise"....even though the Maloofs don't own The Palms anymore...it still has the reputation of drawing hot women and atheletes/b-list celebs, and the pool scene can have serious action still. The restaurants are still pretty good here also and draw well.

I really love the Cantor Sportsbooks, but it's true, their comps are TERRIBLE.  I think you have to make a $500 sports wager to get a drink ticket or a $100 horse wager to get a drink ticket.  What I ususally do is if there's a break in the action,  go out into the casino and play a penny slot till the waitress comes and get a drink from her.

The Cantor guys at the Venetian are the tightest.  The guys at the Tropicana will give out drink tickets more liberally.
