It IS NOT okay to tell Mom to darn off. Try doing this when Dad is present and see how far you get (when he throws your behind THROUGH the door)
IF you are feeling guilty, like, you're getting $20 for nothing (which you are)-then yes, maybe every other or every third twenty you buy her some flowers or a no-brainer gift card where SHE buys gifts. You do this on a non-Mothers Day Weekend, and she will brag to her friends like you're the best son EVER. AND IT WON'T COST YOU A CENT!
BTW, beer or not, no matter what the rest of the board says, I think it's pretty nice you visit your Mother, no matter what you call her. I spent plenty of time ignoring my Father after my parents got divorced, and when he died, THEN, I figured out what I wanted to say. F'in brilliant. Try and make them proud of you. Keep talking. Communication is the beginning of understanding. You keep talking to them, they can't be suprised at what you want to do.
