He mentioned that he intends on taking cabs already. While he may have 5-6k to bet with, he may still want to save money in some areas, and others do read this forum.

What is your ATM limit? If its lower then what you want to spend can't you just ask them to raise the limit? I don't know if I would put 5 k in luggage or carry on it just seems like a pointless risk when you can easily use the ATM when you get here or ask the cabbie on the way to the hotel to stop at the bank. The casinos will cash a cashiers check and you can just throw what you don't use in the safe in your room. What's your best pick the first week?

If you're at the Mandalay Bay I recommend walking over to the MGM to place bets. Their sportsbook is not the swankiest but there is enough seating, a decent deli, bar and restrooms right there. Bellagio is also a decent spot.

I'm in Vegas for the first weekend of NFL as well for the first time this year. Typically go for first weekend of college football (labor day). Was going to be there for work so decided to stay the weekend and watch some college and nfl.

PM me if you want to grab a few beers and catch some of the games.

If possible for your later trips you should ask a casino host to establish a line of credit.  In the early days they were pretty liberal.  Lady Luck gave one of 10k. Too bad they are shut down now.  I applied at the Cal for 10 and I only got 5.  Mainstreet only gave me 2.  This allows me to cash checks and make markers for the table games.  No need to carry large sums, that would be foolish in LV.  Everyone is looking to rip u off.

This post is old now but you can wire the money ahead of time to any of the major casino's and just pick it up when you get there.  Plus if they know you are wiring 10K they pay a little more attention when you are looking for comp's.  Hope the trip went well...
