#1 Posted: 8/1/2012 9:20:56 AM I posted this same thread at the end of last year, but I'm looking for some fresh thoughts...
League facts: -5th year keeper league -draft rounds carry over from year-to-year -1 pt ppr -each team keeps 3 players from previous year -I'm in the 6th drafting position -I understand its difficult for you understand who will still be available in the draft, but in a vacuum....
Who are my keepers?
1st round: Calvin Johnson 2nd round: Matt Forte 3rd: Jamaal Charles 5th: Aaron Rodgers 6th: Fred Jackson 7th: Hakeem Nicks
Thanks guys.... |

Fred Jacks or Hakeem Nicks. Coin flip between these two. I really can't pick on of these. Let luck decide, flip a coin. |

#4 Posted: 8/2/2012 9:06:40 PM Actually starting to lean: Rodgers, FJax, Nicks. Thinking value. I can get a player with similar value as Calvin, possibly get him back first round too. |

#5 Posted: 8/4/2012 4:16:12 AM megatron is the best WR in the game... keep him
rodgers is top 3 QB in the game... keep him too
other then that they are all gambles... all RBs could be huge all down back producers... two of them coming off of injuries last season...
you could keep nicks and then take which ever of the RBs are left over in the draft assuming that at least one of them will be available when it is your turn... and have the decision made for you...

#7 Posted: 8/5/2012 5:25:08 PM Mega and Rodgers are absolute MUST KEEPS.
There is really no questions in my mind as to who you should keep with the third though. Because you're not going to find any of the elite options on the board to start out with, you can't just go for best value, but rather just keeping your best players.
Forte is your man. He's a borderline 1st rounder, and easily an RB1. Charles and even FJax have RB1 upside, but don't seem too likely to get there. If you pass on Forte 'cause you think you can get an elite option with the pick, I'd keep FJax, 'cause he's the best value of the bunch (other than Rodgers). |

#10 Posted: 8/14/2012 3:27:19 AM The first two are easy as I agree with the rest if the board: Calvin and Rodgers.
I actually like FJax only because he is a sixth round choice. I think you maybe able to get Jamal Charles or Forte back in the second round. I'm guessing most other teams will be keeping their first round pick right? Possibly second as well? That should make one of the two available for you again. I just don think you will find value like Jackson in round 6. Borderline RB2's are going around then and he is, at least to start the season, a clear RB1. |

#11 Posted: 8/14/2012 1:51:48 PM Calvin: plenty of yrs with him & stafford left: Keeper!
Forte: 2nd rd is still good value in a ppr & considering age Id highly consider here.
Charles: guy is great, I still need to see it given injury. Too much risk for my taste in a keeper.
A.Rod: 5th rd Keeper!
Fred jack: like him but off injury and age I'd release him.
Nicks: would be other I'd consider 7th rd is good considering his high receptions yr after yr. Injury and depth at wr only issue here.
In short Calvin, A.Rod, forte then nicks |

#14 Posted: 8/15/2012 4:56:16 PM As much as I like Calvin, I would choose Team B.
It's close though.
Calvin > White
Forte = Steven Jackson
Gore < Fred Jacson
Antonio Brown < Nicks
Rodgers = Rodgers
I think you get more value out of Nicks & Fred Jackson over Gore & Brown than Calvin gives you over Roddy White. Forte and Steven Jackson are pretty equal.

Thanks, I think I agree with you. It's tough to release Calvin but it might have to be done. |

#18 Posted: 8/16/2012 7:40:53 AM If I released 1. Calvin and kept 2. Forte, 5. Rodgers, 7. Nicks, could see a team like:
1. Roddy 2. Forte 3. Gore/Turner/Helu +/- 4. ? 5. Rodgers 6. ? 7. Nicks
vs
1. Calvin 2. Forte 3. Gore/Turner/Helu +/- 4. Antonio Brown/Maclin/Harvin +/- 5. Rodgers
Way more depth on the team that has Roddy, right?

#19 Posted: 8/17/2012 12:02:38 AM Just know that if you release Megatron, he's going to go number 1 overall, and you're going to have to play in that league where you'll know you let the best guy back into the draft pool.
Personally, I love to have the absolute elite guys on my team and off others. |

I know. It's not easy to do, but for Calvin I'm essentially getting Roddy and Nicks. |
