judge....no one, not even the South Point is open 24/7....certainly not an MGM property.

Gotta think that this question needs to be divided into 2 sections:

Local & Strip/Downtown

VegasGourmet ... are you sure about them not being open 24 hours?

Judge....

No MGM property is open 24 hours...most close by 10pm Sun-Thurs and midnight Fri/Sat. They are controlled by their Hub at The Mirage.

OK....gonna throw a few out there with my thoughts:

Downtown on Fremont Street (a MUST for any first-timer)...Binion's.

A cab ride from the Strip: The Palms.....especially when something "hot" is happening in Vegas...

Local: The South Pointe.....totally separate race and sports books...really fun when the rodeo is in town..."Cowboy Central"

Strip: For college (especially March Madness: Mandalay Bay; for action: Bellagio; for "new concept" Lagasse's Stadium at The Pallazzo (also has ingame betting from Cantor Gaming!!)

NO mention of the Hilton Superbook? OK, it's old and smokey BUT still the place with the greatest number of prop bets for football AND, if your into NHL hockey, they have the ONLY 10 cent moneyline in town.

IF your looking to loaf and watch the games, you get free drinks by just showing your bet ticket. NO "drink tickets" BS like most other books.

it's "Old School, Old Vegas" and still my fav place to book as a local.

Haven't been to all of them.

I prefer the Orleans and Hilton to the ones on the south end of the strip like Bellagio, NY/NY, MGM Grand.  When I went for March Madness I made a huge mistake leaving the orleans to try and watch the games on teh strip at Bellagio or MGM.  You oculdnt move in them it sucked, at least I was on the right end and being nice and loud against most people who were losing.

I really don't know how anyone can not like the Hilton.  Im surprised they dont do a little more to elevate themselves to #1 and turn the whole thing into sports and put the racebook somewhere else.

The books in Reno are just as good, the new Atlantis one is quality as is the Peppermill.  Downtown I like Cal Neva and Harrahs, good covered parking lot in the Cal Neva.

1) Palazzo (small book, but great atmosphere and food you can't find elsewhere)
2) Hilton Superbook (has probably the most betting options on sports LV has to offer, drawbacks are: dark lighting, occasional fool)
3) South Pointe (Open 24/7, can't argue with that, however this book sometimes has much different lines than others)
4) Palms (Okay, so there isn't a lot of great things to say about this book, but they do, do comps with sports betting.  The Palms is a chick magnet on weekends, plenty to do other than sit in the sportsbook)
5) Suncoast (off Rampart Blvd)  (I really like this place because it has a very local feel, not very busy.  The bookies will give you a HUGE stack of drink tix off a small wager, make a big wager, they will give you as many drink tix as you want.  Really cool bookies that are easy to talk to, and don't might giving you their insight)

These aren't my top 5, just the five best for MUCH DIFFERENT reasons.  Each of these sportsbooks varies significantly from the next.  But all 5 great places to play.

I thought South Point was open 24/7... I know I placed a bet like at 3 AM there a few weeks ago... Maybe they close it to clean up for an hour or two?

now that they changed to "no cell phone" law I see people using cell phones and blackberry's in just about every sportsbook so I would assume your laptop would work.

I was suprised with the Riviera the last time I was in town. They have remodeled and it was a good place to sit and watch games I have not been to the others you mentioned and not sure where they are.
