Did I just hear correctly, the Yanks will be on the road at the wildcard winner to open the playoffs???
That doesnt make sense at all
Does that mean Washington starts on the road too???
It is a disadvantage to have the best record??

This has been known for months now...but even still, its all relative. If everyone takes care of business on their home turf then it still plays out exactly the same. Sucks to have the option of going down 0-2 but if you can't steal 1 on the road against a less talented team, or can't sweep your home field after losing 2 on the road you aren't a world series caliber team to begin with. Nobody's gonna make a vocal cry about this if they lose b/c its too easy to counter.
The only way it actually matters is if a series goes 3. And in the playoffs if you lose 3 straight to open you don't have a leg to stand on to begin with

Exactly....
I mean, if the #1 seed comes back home down 0-2...with their #3 and #4 starter, or #3 and #1 on short rest...they have all the pressure to win 3 in a row...
Huge disadvantage in my opinion....
Playoffs are going to be great......Great Season White Sox-last month collapse

T-Rav.....
For your last statement.....
Go back during the season and look at how many times the Yanks, Rangers, As, Tigers, Os...SF, St, Reds, Wash Atl got swept in a 3 game series...
Im guessing it was slim to none....
Thats why coming back home down 0-2...as the higher seed, is such a huge disadvantage....
The wildcard teams are on cloud-9 just making the playoffs...now they get the first 2 games at home

In my opinion, unlike football or basketball, I truly think any teams that makes the playoffs can with the World Series. Unlike a 8 beating a 1 in basketball, or wildcard beating 1 seed in football, I dont think there is a true upset in baseball playoffs.
Thats why I think the #1 seed playing on the road is such a disadvantge....
I mean...if Texas wins the wild card game, and the Yanks lose to Tex...is that really an upset??? I dont think so

The biggest disadvantage here is that New York and Washington will have no idea where the hell they are playing a baseball game at until after Friday's games! Yanks could be in either Baltimore or Texas. That's a huge difference in both team's and geography. Same with Washington with either Atlanta or St. Louis.
That is just pathetic. They need to host game 1, game 2, send game 3 and game 4 to the wild card and game 5 back in New York/Washington if necessary.
